Imrahil - 135pts
Beregond - 25pts
18 Knights of Dol Amroth - 162pts
18 Rangers with spear - 162pts
6 Knights of Dol Amroth with armoured horse and lance - 114pts
6 Axemen of Lossarnach - 54pts
6 Clansmen of Lamedon - 48pts

Totals: 700pts, 56 models, 18 bows, 4 Might

I am considering buying some more models before the price rise. I've always liked the Fiefdoms; they're fairly competitive, look cool, and are fun to play. If there's enough support here for this army, perhaps I'll get the models I need for it.

Anyways, about the army: the backbone of this army would be a battleline made up of the Knights and Rangers with Imrahil in the middle. Due to Imrahil's Special Rule, the Knights will be getting the equivalent of three attacks, at Fight 4, to win the fight. That's pretty formidable. The cavalry would be used either to guard the flanks or as a highly mobile and elite contingent which I could bring into play when needed. The Axemen would probably be kept behind the battleline as reserves, whereas the Clansmen would most likely be used as skirmishes. This army is pretty low on Might and models, but I think it has enough perks to make it a competitive army.

I would put Imrahil on horse myself as for one you'll probably need a leader for your cavalry unless you plan on doing the old hammer and anvil tactic but it does make him a lot more of a threat and his banner affect will probably reach the knights anyway. The only issue with this army is S4, a good Isengard list with Saruman would give this a very tough game. There's not much you can do about it though unfortunately.

As crazy as it would sound, I would swap the rangers for Blackroot vale archers as their fight 3 won't be much of a difference as they're supporting fight 4. This would make them better against SQs and FBs if you manage to get a shot at them. Not sure about the axemen and clansmen but they might be useful. I think you'd probably be better off with some KoMT instead.

Let's see...You could swap Beregond for some warriors or swap him along with some minis for a better hero...
All others were said by spuds4ever.

No one ever suggests this, but seeing that this army is pretty vulnerable to a Harad on 20+ bows, Corsairs and Shadow Lord, and Isengard on 17+ crossbows with SL, how about getting Gandalf? He will provide protection from SQ too. I would personally drop the 6 mounted Knights and 3-4 Rangers and upgrade Beregond into Gandalf. I also wouldn't have clansmen. Lets be honest - mounted KoDA are insanely overpriced for their below par abilities, KoMT are effectively almost the same for 25% points less and cavalry in general in LotR SBG simply sucks (other than mounted heroes). And Clansmen... they look cool, so if that's what you want in a competitive force, then fine. You could also try dropping Imrahil to Forlong.

This list is imho much more powerful:
Forlong
Gandalf on Horse
19 KoDA
17 RoG with Spears
15 Men at Arms

Total 53 and 699 points. Now this army doesn't get owned by Harad/SL bowfire because of Gandalf and in combat it beats the Corsair/Harad force. It also doesn't get owned by a SL/UrukCrossbows force, while in combat it destroys that force because the force is based upon (usually) Saruman/SL/33% crossbows, 66% orcs. It fares the same against Mordor and Moria as your original list does, except that Gandalf is a far more powerful model to use against both Shadow Lord and Spider Queen, both of which are always in the top Mordor and Moria lists.

I want to keep the army thematic (I should have said), so I'm going to keep Imrahil (and before you mention Beregond, I know he's not thematic; I'll probably use his rules for a made-up Hero). And I'm not sure it's feasible to take Imrahil and Gandalf at 700pts. To be honest, I'm slightly reluctant to make any changes. I'm more interested in how this army would fare as it is now.

I'd drop beregond and some soldiers to get imrahil on a horse and get forlong or angbor in the army or drop the cavalry completely, i reckon 6 of them would be munched up in a 700pt game in which case you have no offensive power. However i do really like the idea of a dol amaroth shieldwall being supported by rangers with spears :D

I love Fiefdom forces, but they can be tricky to use. Here are a couple different ideas for all-infantry and infantry with a mounted contingent.

The Fiefdoms
Imrahil - 135pts
14 Knights of Dol Amroth - 126pts
12 Men-At-Arms - 108pts
Forlong the Fat - 60pts
12 Axemen of Lossarnach - 108pts
19 Rangers of Gondor (12 with spear) - 164pts

59 models, 6 Might. 701 Points Total.

OR

The Fiefdoms
Imrahil - 135pts
9 Knights of Dol Amroth - 81pts
9 Men-At-Arms - 81pts
9 Rangers of Gondor with spear - 81pts

Rangers of Ithilien
Damrod - 20pts
8 Warriors of Minas Tirith with shield - 64pts
10 Warriors of Minas Tirith with spear & shield - 90pts
9 Rangers of Gondor - 72pts

Tower of Ecthelion
Faramir with armour - 75pts

57 models, 7 Might. 699 Points Total.

OR

The Fiefdoms
Imrahil mounted with lance - 155pts
6 Knights of Dol Amroth mounted with lance - 114pts

Rangers of Ithilien
Faramir with bow - 75pts
20 Warriors of Minas Tirith with shield - 160pts
12 Warriors of Minas Tirith with spear & shield - 108pts
16 Rangers (8 with spear) - 136pts

56 models, 6 Might. 748 Points Total.

Ok, so the last one is a 750 point. I usually go towards the idea of allying with either Ithilien or Tower of Ecthelion.

Because they're expensive-ish and have average fight value (none of this [word deleted] about Fv3 being the "average." It simply isn't anymore.) while their defence is good, it isn't on-par with Dwarves. With so many tricks up Evil's sleeve (tons of Fv4, lots of S4+, poisoned weapons, Nazgul, Spider Queen, etc etc) playing any Good army is tricky, really. It all depends on your opponent.

Well especially the warriors of dol amroth have high armour and if you ad dImrahil they have a good rule. Put rangers to shoot and then bam-bam all dead... :-D

I really like the second list actually. Good theme and good army with not that much money spent on blisters 8)
