Right so my next steps should be to use a sponge and dab different earth shades of brown around the board, and dry brush it. Should I dry brush it with a lighter or darker colour? I'm guessing darker because the board is already quite light because of the brown I chose. Thanks for the help Willow by the way, your a life saver! hehe :D If the coin system worked at the moment I would give you a coin for all your help.

Looking good Drum(again, lol),I'd have to say deff do a draker brown.what I do when I flock my bases (mini's or board's) I paint it a nice rich earth color with different shades of brown and sometimes I even do some light green(not bright, more of a grey green) on it then flock it and it turns out pretty well.

Thanks.

I just added a few more photos to that album. I still have a huge number to upload I am only to 2002.
I found some that were posted on Garry Jame's old Nercromonda site.

I like darker base coats. A nice warm brown wash then a lighter dry brush.

Right I've started working on this project again. My problem is I'm still completely stumped how and what flock I should use. I guess I should to patches of grass scattered around but what flock? I have both static grass and powdered. Can I use a combination of both? or is that a no go... If anyone who has already got a board maybe post a few pictures up so I have an idea of where to go.

Thank's In Advance

I use a blend of every color I have. In the large photo you can see the table ready to flock. The surface was made by sifting saw dust onto wet dark green house paint. I dry brushed lighter green over it after it had dried. You can see the darker color in the drive way thumbnail.
I think you should dry brush several lighter colors over you surface before you flock. Much like I did for the road on Fred's D Day table. Use a sifter when you apply flocking. This will reduce the poka dot look common on wargame terrain.

I will post the Western Town Photos on ASWA later tonight. I still cant drive but Fred will give me a ride.

Thanks for the help Willow, your always there when I get stuck. :) The boards look brilliant, I remember seeing a few pics of the D-Day board on ASWA.

So I think I'll try painting the board lighter colors first (we're talking greens here right?) then I think I'll flock the board with powdered grass and then small patches of static around. How does that sound? I try a test piece beforehand. Or should I just go for the patches of static on the dirt?

I would Paint it with light earth colors then sift a little ground foam on. Then add static grass.

Right gotcha, I'll try that out on a test piece. I had a check on ASWA, that western board looks awesome! Hope the leg gets better.

Here's my progress, Sorry it took so long. I did the two boards with grass and since I've run out so I can't finish that last one. For the Osgiliath side I added a mix of glue, sand, black paint and just painted it on. After that a gave it a dry brush. It needs quite a bit of work on the mountain area and around the river before I go into any details or more things.

It looks very good so far 8) :yay:

If you paint the river center black and blend with greens toward the edge the water will look deeper. Look how I painted the bank well into the river to give the impression of shallow water. Glue the rocks down first if you plain to use them.

Thanks, the paved effect was achieved by wallpaper. It worked better than I had expected. :D

Great work here! My only concern is where the bridge meats the grass. It doesn't seem to blend well. But this is obviously a WIP so it could change depending on what you do. :-D
