Ok, here is my finished entry...Vrasku, painted as a Mordor Uruk-hai (I don't have an Isengard army).

Wow! That was quick. And it looks awesome

I love the skin colour and the battered metal look. Can you let us know what colour you used for the skin? I've been looking for a different option to the usual dark flesh for uruks.

How do you get it done so quickly? Great work!!!!

The skin was a base coat of Shadow Grey and then darkened from there using mixes of the Shadow Grey and Blacks...giving him a very dark blue/black skin.

Great work, Dave! The skin color looks great, and is blended very well. My only criticism is that the armor is a bit too dark for my tastes. Another highlight would give the model some more "pop."

The armor I was contemplating going lighter, but due to the fact I like to paint in realistic, dark color palettes I opted to leave him darker due to the fact he is trudging around Mordor in all its soot and filth and these fellows weren't exactly very hygienic.

As for the the crossbow not being able to be carried by the Mordor Uruks...I will be just using it as 'counts as' a bow.

Here's a work in progress photo of Lurtz. He needs his bow, legs and greaves doing, and some more highlights on his leather armour. I'm going for a similar 'grunge' look that Dave captured nicely with his Mordor Uruk, but with an obvious Isengarder feel to it. I doubt I'll paint the white hand on his face since I'd probably ruin the whole model.

It's a really difficult model to photograph though, because it's so dark!

...anyhow, it seems the painting challenge is steadily increasing in popularity and quality! All the entries so far are looking nice

As they say often on here (with good reason), keep up the good work!

About the white hand, a tip that I've heard of folks using is to lay down the design using really thinned down paint. If it looks alright, then go over it again until you're happy, if not then just wipe or rub it off with a brush or fingertip; since the paint is so watery it wiil obviously take longer to completely dry.

I hope yours is the best Bilbo because Mordor Uruks are IMO better than Isengarders.
