Hey wow, great work Hilbert. Glad to see you participating - this 'challenge' is not about winning anything, it's about joining in, getting a little better at painting, and being a part of the One Ring community.

Nice work Hilbert!

I've just taken mine out of the box it's been in for the past 3 years and filed the flash away in the hope that this time I actually can get an entry ready in time.

My proof picture. I'm not sure I'll get it painted on time but I'll give it a go! (sorry about the rubbish phone camera pic but I could find my camera).

Welcome aboard HeavySoul. You've still got a couple of weeks before the end of the month, so you should have enough time to get Lurtz finished (same goes for you Jake). Good luck!

I began working on mine today. Since my Isengard Raiders dress in red, I wanted their leader to stand out and thus he's going commando. Khaki, that is. :)

Yeah, I'm curious to see what I can come up with too.
Sorry about the bad pics, I was doing some experimenting with lighting and stuff, but I guess they're alright. Also, if you can't tell, I painted the armor using the NMM technique which I really enjoy painting. I hope you guys like it!

No pictures at the moment, as we’re without power so we are holed up at my parent’s house for the night, but I have begun working on Mauhur and Ugluk for the challenge. I’ve finished painting the sand/ballast, and all but the last highlight on the flesh. I’m contemplating trying something a little different on cloth and armor, as my old Isengard Uruks ended up looking like a washed out brown blob at arm’s length.

Just finished adding the sand and undercoat spray to mine, so he's all ready for painting!

Here is my proof picture:

I just started painting so an update may come this evening unless it's already too dark outside when I finish.

I would like to enter the challenge, and as luck would have it I'm working on Isengard and have a Lurtz - the only thing is, I've just basecoated the skin. Do I need to reprime the whole model is order to participate? I know I'm new here, so I thought it best to ask. Here is the current status:

edit: removed image

I'm going to hold off any more painting on him in case I need to reprime.

Thanks!

Firstly, hello and welcome to One Ring :)

Quote:
2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme).

So yes I'm afraid if you want to be eligible to be voted for in the challenge, you'll need to quickly reprime the skin for a proof picture. I'm sorry if that causes inconveniences for you, but once we let one person off, others might start trying to do the same.

Or, if you carry on painting and don't bother with repriming for a proof picture, you will still have participated with the community event and will have your miniature in the final thread, your entry just won't be able to be voted for or have a chance of winning. Up to you :)
