Actually I think the Orc Taskmaster is based on the Orc Taskmaster in the Return of the King extended edition film when Frodo and Sam are almost caught while walking through Mordor. The face is very similar, so I am assuming it was based on him. It is possible the game influenced it, but the Orc from the films was likely the main influence.

Anyway, back to monsters, I should be getting a Willow and Linden Tree Giant through the post so I might change my Buhrdur for one of these as I've yet to paint an Ent and they are some of the nicest minis around in my opinion.

As a new member to the board I will be entering my first competition here. I plan on doing the Dragon--I have a good idea for him. Looking forward to it!

You know, he was on my short list to consider along with one of Dave's Ents (errr Tree Giants).

Count me in with Sauron.
Should have painted him up a long time ago, so this is a perfect oppurtunity to finally get started.

We decided earlier in this thread Sauron is not a monster. Not only is he not classed as a monster in the rulebook but also if we allow Sauron to be an elligible entry, we should technically also allow the Necromancer, Wraiths, Barrow Wights etc. and they aren't really monsters and it would completely change the category of the challenge from that. Although he is monstrous with his intentions (wiping out man etc.), he is no monster. Hopefully you have something else you can enter, here is the list of eligible entries posted on the previous page:

Quote:
Eligible 'Monsters' for the September Challenge:

• Ent
• Treebeard
• Gwaihir
• Giant Eagle
• Mordor Troll
• Mordor Troll Chieftain
• Isengard Troll
• Catapult Loader Troll
• Cave Troll
• Buhrdur, Hill Troll Chieftain
• Shelob
• Spider Queen
• Balrog
• Dragon
• Cave Drake
• Witch-King/Ringwraith on Fellbeast
• Mumakil
• Gulavhar, The Terror of Arnor

Jake my son wants to enter the September challenge with his Isengard Troll. However, he is only 10 and doesn't have an account is it ok if I post his entry for him?

Yay monsters! I'll be painting my Isengard troll as I need it for the Helm's Deep project I'm doing!
Can't wait to see all the monsters!

Just for clarity, Should the "passengers" for the Mumak be omitted, included or either way? Or, should it just include the commander/beastmaster? Just thought I'd ask in case someone is considering that model. While I do have one waiting to be painted, it's not on my current list of projects...

The Mumak should be alone without his passengers. 8)

Include them if you want, or don't include them. It's up to you, as long as the Mumak is there it doesn't really matter as the focus will be on that anyway :)

@ red corsairs: ok, must have missed that post.

Will enter with a cave troll. (the model lacks some detail as it has been stripped, so it will be more of a challenge aswell.)
I also have a mumakil, but I'm afraid I won't be able to finish him in time.

I don't blame you, I wouldn't be able to either. In fact I'd be luck if I can finish this Tree Giant in a month :P

I am going to enter a cave drake. I primed it a while ago, but have done nothing since. It will be a miracle if I get it finished on time. Maybe for challenges with larger models we could extend the time to 2 months?

Well I'll be painting up my Cave Troll for this one. I go off to school soon so I'll need to finish him in a week...now that's a challenge! Haha
