The Undying can be useful, noot sure abou the mastery, i rarely get 3 spells, never mind 4, but I think he is a good fit for Angmar too actually, I'd stick him in some Carn Dum. Oh yes, that first senario, I saw the adverts for it, when I saw the Ard Boyz thing the forst thing I thought was, 'well the Undying seems useless for the first scenario'

I've gotta say, all these lists I see look so fragile. We have done larger sized games but we always scaled up using similar ratios to our 1000pt armies so if you took too many heroes (or took Elves...) you might well see off the first wave (deployment space, even on huge table, was an issue) but then the reserves would hit like a freight train.
Speaking of upgrades vs troops and ratios though, one thing I have really come around to in this game is the usefulness of the Captain. Might in the right place can really make a difference. Sometimes, it is worth it even to blow both points on a courage test. This issue with Epics is that you've often (well unless you are Evil, in which case you often get everything handed to you for free) paid for some nice Epic actions and want to keep the might for them.
