Yesterday I bought a blister pack of 28mm USMC Force Recon figures - 7 metal minis for AU$22 (£14) - from Eureka Miniatures. These have to be right up there with the best quality minis I have seen - the detail is exquisite and $3 each, exceptional value (compare that with a pack of GW metals - if you can still find them - $22 for two figures!). These are going to be the start of my SpecOps troops for Force-on-Force.

I haven't painted mine yet, but this image is from the Eureka website:

If anyone else is interested, the minis are avialable from here: http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath ... 50&sort=3a

I started painting them when I got home from work today, but didn't get far enough to warrant a picture. Since these guys are dressed in woodland combat fatigues I was planning on doing a 'cold war gone hot' scenario with US forces, German Bundeswehr and Russian troops, somewhere in Eastern Europe.

Thats cool. You could do a South American CIA lead operation as well which happened alot in the 70s and 80s since you have a jungle theme.

I picked up some regular USMC troops today from my FLGS - more lovely work from Eureka Miniatures. If you have the vaguest interest in modern era or near future gaming, you HAVE to get these guys, they are superbly sculpted. You get 14 figures in the set for around $35 ($2.50 per figure compared to some other companies) and it constitutes 3 x 4-man fireteams, a squad leader and a sniper. I have heard a rumour that there will be some casualties coming out within a few weeks too - perfect for use in the Force on Force game.

I can't wait to paint them!

(sorry, do I sound excited?)

They can be found here: http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath ... =3a&page=3
And painted minis are here: http://eurekamin.com.au/gallery.php?g2_ ... &g2_page=9

Those Soviets with the massive rocket looks really sweet! I love the gasmasks. Casualties would be great for Force on Force as it's small enough where you could see all the dead bodies of your army.

Casualties play a big part in the FoF game actually. Being stuck with wounded soldiers or civilians reduces your movement, firepower, and morale - seriously affecting your ability to meet your objectives. It changes a game significantly if you have to evacuate your wounded and don't just remove the mini from the table. The same goes with shepherding prisoners or rescued hostages around the battlefield while keeping them out of harm's way. It's very realistic and is one of the reasons why I'm excited about the game.
