Suddenly, any changes PJ makes in his version don't sound so bad

I never watched this, but I have watched the1968 animated LOTR several times. There's also a RotK.

Do you mean the 1978 Ralph Bakshi Lord of the Rings or the 1977 Rankin/Bass The Hobbit (which was followed by the 1980 Rankin/Bass Return of the King)?

Ah yes, Dinadan's title confused me as to the years, since I wasn't born then anyway.

It's like the put the book through a shedder, burned half of the book, put it together again, and filled in the parts that didn't make any sense with other things that make less sense. Where did a princess come from? How the heck are the Misty Mountains now a circle? And how the heck is S-M-A-U-G pronounced Slag? There's to much to complain about this to write!

Oh, I still complain about him. I just realize now that it could have been worse! (I already knew it could be worse, I saw the Bakshi one several years after watching RotK in theaters. But this is HORRIBLE!)

Yeah, aparently it was made as a ploy to keep the film rights - the guy who made it owned the rights but they were about to run out, and to keep them he had to make a film based on TH, so he knocked together the *ahem*masterpiece*ahem* linked to in something like a month, retained the rights then resold them later on to make lots of money.

 I did not just watch The Hobbit. I watched the perversion of a classic. This is why authers don't always like selling the rights to there work. It gave the Unexpected journey a totally predictable fairy-tale ending. Thank goodness such a horrible peice of adaption has been largely forgotten. A total 'Slag' heap. :boromir
