None of these are particulary good; you really need a strong hero like Amdur, and another warband should be with the War Priest... Black dragons are not needed, and you forgot about drums and banners? I play Rhun, although the normal points is 750 now. Dragon Knights are seriously underpriced, overpowered models, although in such a small army it doesn't really fit.

It is a 500 point game. Adding a 100point model will seriously hamper the numbers of line troops I would be able to add. Adding a DK would do the same. Yes they have great stat lines, but Amdur is 2/1/1 and the DK is 2/0/0; even with a WarPriest and fury their chances are slim surviving a direct assault on them. Maybe in a 750pt game they would be more ideal. 500pt seems to always be about numbers.

I didn't forget about the drum and banner. The only one of these I'd sacrifice numbers would be for the banner. Going an extra 3" isn't impressive to me. And at 500pt I couldn't fathom taking both.

Also Option 4, has a WarPriest and numbers.

Please keep the ideas coming. Thank you

I would run the Khamul list, actually. And I would put him on the horse instead of the captain, if you can. Which would mean running the third list.

Though I would retool it in such a way as to put more models with pike/spear things in there- possibly just drop one model, add pikes all around for the swordsmen. Then hope that the board is going to aid you in finding a nice place for your pikemen to dig in, otherwise use the archers to cover the flanks, and swamp anything that you can with pikemen, using Khamul and the Kataphracts to hammer the enemy. Yes, it is a small list, but can work well if properly used.

Thank you. :D I can see them clearer now.

The first list, looks a little generic, apart from the Fight value, but I do like generic lists for this pts value. Since pikes cost the same as spears, I would be tempted to give your second rank of archers spears, so they can fight in combat too. Quite good.

In the second list, Khamul is in the wrong place, he should be with pikemen, to increase his attacks and thus the effiency of his rule. This is probably the worst of the 4.

The third list has the same problem with Khamul's positioning. If you put him with the Kataphrakts on a horse, and put a captain with the bowmen and shields, I'd say excellent list, though low in numbers, with Khamul leading Black Dragon Kataphrakts, you could go far.

The fourth list, for some reason, I really like the list pretty much as is, though you could swap a Captain and War Priest around, it is debatable.

I think, with a few changes if needed, 1, 3 and 4 could be good. 2 needs more work. It depends on your opponant whether you choose 1, 3or 4. If your facing Goblins or Hobits, drop all Black Dragon upgrades instantly. If not, then remain, though I would say your pikemen don't need that upgrade, except 2 out of each 6 in a typical warband. I tink you could have the most fun with List 3, but you have to be careful, though with a decent cavalry contigent, you don't have to worry to muh about numbers. Good luck.

Amdur has 3 might by the way, and counts as a banner, so he wouldn't hurt at this level. Always give Khamul either pike support or an armored horse. He NEEDS to have more than one attack. Having the War Priest increase his strength to 6 is also very useful, same goes for Amdur and any DK you may take.

Drauglin makes a good point about both Khamul and Amdur- Khamul is quite capable of taking on a great many things if you give him the extra attacks, and I have seen him keep cutting and cutting and cutting until the end of the game. Amdur can be useful as well, but at this point level one can only go with one or the other.

At this level I would go for Amdur. His banner helps makes up for his relatively high point cost.

One thing I would add to what you two have said, is personal choice. Khamul was a canon Tolkien character, Amdur was not, even though I agree with you that he is better at this level, I consider theme to be a vital part of LotR SBG.

True, but if you want to go that far, GW and the movie Easterlings aren't canon Tolkien. Easterlings were more like dwarves than like the ones in the movies. However, since so little was known about the East, and because I prefer the current models to more Tolkien-esque ones, I figure that Amdur COULD be canon, so I like him.

Well I have played 5-6 games against a Spider Queen w/12 spiders and Warg Chieftain w/12 wargs Warhost using this force::

3rd: all S&S, P&S and Kataphrakt are upgraded to Black Dragons
Capt w/shld
S&S x4
P&S x2

Kamul & Horse
Kataphrakt x6

Capt w/Shld
S&S x6
Bow x6
27models/501pts

...and have lost all but 1.

I even tried a variety of combos: even used option #4, I've dropped troops to put more bows in, I tried dropping all the bows for more CC, even dropped the Black Dragon upgrade for a few more S&S; and still lose. Tactics aside, which I'm good at, the dice have always rolled against me. As well as the new setups for some of the scenarios. I find that my friend can place his spiders almost anywhere and close with me within 2-3 turns. Even with backing pedaling the archers I find that viable targets are lost within 2-3 turns. I even tried shooting into combat...and of course all of a sudden my guys-n-gals became expert shots!!! ...killing their battle-buddies  LOL even had to climb down off some ruins to add CC...and rolled 1's...then rolled 6's...lost 3 troopers that way :(

I have used Kamul to good effect, once killing the SQ with Black Darts. I've tried concentrating on the wargs 1st, then the spiders; to no avail. The spiders are tough to crack. Their 2 attacks with re-roll and their higher F/Str. is annoying :x The times we've tied to see who wins the fight, the rolls majority of the time go in his favor!
LoL arrrrrrgh!!!!

....anyone have any idea where I can get loaded dice?!?!?!?!?!

May have to try squeezing in Amdur and/or a DK. Course I may have to redraft my Warhost. The only reason I'm trying to stick to the Kamul list is they are the ones I've submitted for our Tale of 4 Gamers event.

Try one with Amdur on horse instead of Khamul, combine the first warband into the second and swap a captain for a DK. Same numbers, but you gain a banner, a better combat hero (actually 2) and you have the same numbers.

Drop the Black Dragon upgrade on the pikemen to save you some points. And have the Amdur idea Draugluin suggests.

I would actually keep it in the above list because 4 points isn't going to get you anything.

In regards to the loaded dice, I have found that if I yell SIX! at one of my dice while rolling it, it will be either a 5 or a 6. If I yell FIVE! it'll be either a 4 or a 5. My opponents want to ban it, but they can't tell it from the rest of mine. :)

If I was to yell 6, I would get 1, if I was to yell 5, I would get 2, If I was to yell 1, id'd get 1.
