Yes but Gandalf 200pts, Aragorn 200pts, Gimli 175pts, Boromir haven't got book but think 175pts plus Hobbits is a lot more then 500 points.

But it is substantially cheaper than it's component parts.

It's cheaper because it isn't as good.

If it was as good as it's component parts, it would be substantially more expensive. Your logic is horrible.

It's not much use comparing the Fellowship to the individual epics, and the relative points values as they serve different functions in an army.

The Fellowship can be a tough unit to squish.... if you use "Gandalf the Necromancer" its hard to kill more than 1-2 of the fellowship (the hobbitses counting as one), he casts Blessing of the Valar... and ping back they come.

I would take them if i could and didnt need those heroes in their epic form elsewhere... possibly even in a 1500 point game..

That is what I said, thou eejit, Isaid the reason it is cheaper is because it is worse, therfore if it was better it would cost more. Read the response properly before you quibble please.

Even though I said exactly what you said?

Then you should say what you mean to say, because your last few comments on the subject have implied that you thought it wasn't worth taking because it wasn't as good as the Epics that make it up. You didn't say exactly what I said, you might have MEANT to say what I said, but it is pretty easy to misread your comments, what with your usually horrible grammar and spelling.

When typing fast on a computer that is slow mistakes inevitably occur.

I thought that is what I said, as it happens I don't think it is worth taking in most cases because Aragorn, Gimli and Gandalf are mighty useful, but the Fellowship would be a powerful piece in the right circumstances, and your going for some sort of Fellowship-themed list.

Even if those three epics cost more than the Fellowship. Which was my point. You didn't say one thing that (Imo) implied that you thought the Fellowship was worth taking.

Because in general I do not think so, it is IMO one of those units that, at 2,000pts you must take if you really like as it is not dreadful.

I would agree, and would go as far as to say that every Epic Hero is better than every Legendary Formation (excluding Legendary Monsters and the Three Hunters).

I would personally rate Mauhur's Maurauders above both the Hobbit heroes.

The Hobbit herpesare a little overcosted, but Mauhur's Marauders are too small for a defence 6 formation really, though you are right that there probably are other exceptions too.

Use them like trolls, very hard hitting but very vulnerable.

Their small size would actually be beneficial if used in the Battle-host with Ugluk and Grishnahk.

I don't remember the effects of that one, but don't bother writing it down, I will check later. Thanks for the suggestion :) They are still small though.
