Wow. Why do you play with this guy? Is he the only other LotR gamer there? He sounds like a really poor sport to me.

Throwing spears are great !!!! throw them every time before you move into combat you might get lucky and get a kill and can move into combat with another model.

Throwing Spears are more useful to Rohan Warriors than to Warg Riders, but still not worth 2pts, they should cost 1pt.

In that case, I must have the worst luck of anyone who tries to use Rohan. The only time I've ever gotten more than a couple kills with them was against wood elves.

There are only 3 guys in my area who play SBG other than myself. He's gotten a lot better, but he's still acting like a woman about a lot of stuff. He actually convinced the other 2 guys to ban me from using the balrog, until he killed it (in a fight that I set up specifically so he would kill it).

Why would you use the balrog, it's quite bad sportsmanship. Depending on the scenario of course.

How is it bad sportsmanship to use a 400pt model? His cost more than offsets his power. In fact, he's not that great, he needs to have might to be worth the full 400pts.

 The balrog is really only good in to kill a king.....It's bad sportsmanship to bring him to any game really, in TKaK you'll destroy him, and in everything else he'll kill you.

Not against Khazads.

Khazads are a though nut to crack, but really, dwarves need their elites, but I hate when they are being spammed.

Darves do not need elites. Though technically elite themselves, Dwarf Warriors are too cheap, perfect for spamming. Khazad Guard are just there for when you reallly want to be evil, or if your opponant has a Mumak or Black Numenoreans.

Ugh. So, a few little points, to add into the mix.

First, the Balrog is generally abysmal, and if mine enemies only brought Balrogs in their 400pt armies, I would most likely run rampant over them. Now, don't get me wrong, the model is brilliant, the profile is beast, the model is capable of doing tremendous damage, it gets mobbed, loses a fight by rolling a number of fives, loses three wounds, and repeat. Final score- Balrog, around 20 models. 400pt army- 1 balrog. And with maybe one exception, that is my experience with Balrogs (and mine has been on the field many times, as will be spoken of, no doubt, in the Fall of Gondolin that I shall try to put out in the near future).

Throwing weapons- my main experience is with woodelves, but their TW, imo, are worth every single point that one must pay for them. The power of the throwing weapon should not be underestimated, particularly by those who run with D5 or less armies.

Dwarves most certainly do not need elites, though dwarven elites cause life to be miserable for other people.

And as for Rohan, I have never had much luck with them. Which is why mine don't tend to be used too often.

My apologies- that was a bit of a rant. :)

Ok! Kind of side tracked the thread. I've been part of that, but I think Firinsazor deserves the help he's asked for.

So. What was your goal in this castle, bro?

Elves throwing weapons hit twice as often as Warg Rider ones, and 5/6 more than Rohan Warriors. Of course they are worth it for elves, they aren't for certain others though.

As One Rider said, the derailing must end, let us return yes?

Right after this: Dwarves don't need undercosted warriors, much less undercosted elites. Rohan doesn't have good enough accuracy for throwing weapons to be worth it. Balrogs are good at really high numbers, like around 1500pts.

Trust you to continue. Who said Dwarves need undercosted Warriors? Why would anyone need them, unless all their heroes are overcosted - which they aren't?

Oops, meant to say they have undercosted warriors, so they don't need to have cheap elites either.
