The plastic Fellowship is brutal especially after working with the metal versions.. Legolas in particular is awful with his hair melded into his arrows..

You've got those characters spot on! You really get the feel of movement (especially with Gandalf) the way you've painted them and the photography is great. I'll look forward to seeing more from you.

Wow, very nice style.
What program do you use for photo editing, or what is the method, that you use?

Great Dunlendings and impressive pictures. Makes me think about getting some.

Please let us know how you did their shields.

Hi.. I use Adobe Lightroom.. I am a photographer so I have some nice equipment.. I use a Canon Mark II and wireless flashes for the lighting.. As for processing I just darken the edges a bit for dramatic effect.. Thanks!

I am a bit of a mad scientist and don't really keep track of how I do certain things, but I remember Hashnut Copper base, mechrite red on the raised parts of the shield followed by white highlights.. 50/50 mix of earthshade, and nuln oil shade, followed by drybrushing copper, boltgun metal, and chainmail in that order.. Finished with a sepia wash and one more drybrush of copper..

Thanks!

I use a Sigma 105mm Macro lens with a tripod.. It is really tough to hand hold a camera with that lens as any slight shake will blur the pic.. If you get bored, this is one of my sites..

beautifull painting and exellent photography 8)
What kind of flash do you use?
Do you reckon photoshop elements would work for the dark rim?

Excellent painting on the above models, I like the Dunledings much, and that Theoden is startlingly reminiscent of Bernard Hill, particularly the armour :yay:

Thanks for the kind words.. Nice surprise to be on the main page even for a few hours!

Photoshop elements may have the ability to do the edge darkening but I have not used it in a few years.. Look for vignetting in the program.. You can download a trial of Lightroom that lets you use it for 30 days for free.. You have to register your email with adobe though..

Flashes.. I have 3 580 ex2 flashes which are controlled by my transmitter on the camera.. I will take a pic of the set up in the next few weeks..

Got a nice update coming..

Thanks
Chris

Wow, wow and triple wow! Love the orcs, and gollum, and the scenery and, well, everything. Painting is great and the photos bring everything to life in such a brilliant way. Your wip thread is a treat. :yay:
