I recently used a spray gloss varish, then the vallejo spray matt varnish on some berserkers. This has ruined the models, making them have some whiteish bits all over them. I uderstand that this is sometimes a problem with spray matt varnish, they looked fine after the gloss varnish (but shiny). Does anyone know of a way to remove the shine of gloss varnish without the risks of using a matt spray (I followed all the rules for using it, shook it for 3 minuites but it still didn't work). I can't not gloss varnish them because matt varnish won't protect them well enough.

I recently did the same thing. You can use brush on matt varnish.

Does brush on matt varnish ever cause any problems? Does it actually take of the shine? I have some brush on humbrol dule cote and it only makes things shinier.

Does testors dullcote completely remove the shine without any problems? I've heard good things about it but didn't think it was sold in the UK anywhere. Thanks for the link.

Besides plenty of shaking and checking the humidity factor, I have had this problem before as well and ended up repainting loads of figures. I gave up and now just brush on Quick shade after painting and have learned to live with the shine. I have had better luck with Testor's dullcote than GW's Purity seal. Good luck.

I never use a spray. Vallejo Matt Varnish (brush on) is the best I have come across, but make sure the bottle is well shaken first.

I've had that problem with a GW varnish spray and dang I was mad about it. Is it a dusty look on the models or is it white bigger chunks?

When I got the white dusty look from the GW varnish I actually managed to salvage it with a better dullcote over it. I think I used testors but not sure.
