It's half the reason I love painting/collecting 'High' Elves - their armour is just beautiful. I remember going to see it at the Royal Armouries in Leeds when Weta ran that Arms and Armour roadshow, and in person, just, wow. Though it paled in comparison to the work that went into Sauron, but that's another story :P

I'm debating on whether, sticking to the current rules, to just have a pure High Elf army or whether to ally in. I'm tempted to ally in Rangers and Aragorn from the Three Hunters. If I can somehow get hold of him cheaply...

Thanks Chris, PoW, Bilbo!

@ DMS - Cheeky. Just for you I took a photo :P

I did potatoes, cubed and fried in olive oil with garlic, a couple of onions, basil, rosemary, oregano, paprika, salt and pepper, served with cumberland sausages and a hearty helping of good old baked beans :P

Image

And before anyone says anything, technically that there is a WIP pic. It was dinner in progress - the potatoes aren't quite browned and crispy :P

Your elves look great but are completely overshadowed by the dinner - fantastic colouration and attention to detail has gone into this with a wonderful array of herbs and spices lol. I want some

The elves I mean, not the dinner.

Everybody should be able to cook! It's a fun skill to master.

Anyways I'm about to go and have fun with Dettol. I have a tonne of plastic Elves to strip.

EDIT:

Image

Got these guys nearly done now. I'm not as happy with the Elven cloaks this time around, and I'm not even sure why. They look better off camera for sure, as in the lighting I took this picture, my last batch show up similar. But hey, what can you do. Just need to base them now!

Okay, update time!

Had a busy week so not had much chance to paint, so excuse the lack of miniatures finished.

First off, here's my banner bearer. He needs his Elven Cloak painting, and obviously the banner, but I'm saving that for another day.

Image

And in other news my Captain is finished! I decided to give him a different coloured cloak to differentiate him from the other Elves, and in keeping with the fact Elrond & Gil-galad have blue ones, I thought he should have one too.

I think today I learned that I got better at basing

Thanks! I wanted to try and make him look even more battle worn by painting some dripping orc blood on his blade, but I wasn't confident I would be able to make it look good.

Again, praise from DMS is always a good thing. Can't wait to have this whole company painted up!

I never really like adding blood to my models, I think it can detract from the paint job and draw attention away from the detail of the model. I think these guys being just a wee bit dirty tells the story very well! :)

Fantastic work Shieldmaiden - far superior to GW's! :yay: I especially love the blue colour you've got on the Captain's cloak! :yay: :yay: :yay: Will you be painting freehand on the banner? I think you'd make it look excellent 8)

Bahaha Chris, you shower me with praise. I'd be lying if I said your blue cloaks hadn't partly inspired that decision.

I'm gonna paint the banner freehand, yes - I'm just researching Elven Heraldry at the moment so I can sketch something up. I'm so scared to try it!

Already beat you to it. Looked at it earlier.

I think I'm gonna design a heraldry for Arwen. As much as it'd be stretching lore a little (she'd bear the same one as Elrond, who actually just uses Gil-Galad's) I think it'd be fun to have a go at.
