Celeborn is finished:

I've not done much with the base as I'm thinking of doing something when I've finished Galadriel and the mirror.

Really good job with this guy, I'm really digging the muted tones.

I've started on Galadriel.

Image

I already have one painted with the usual white robes and so have gone for a more earthy look. The real challenge with this model is managing the highlights and shadowing so the light appears consistent and natural across every fold. There are a few areas that need further attention such as the middle bottom which is a little too bright. Once that is done I'll start to intensify the contrast.

I've also been working on my second warband of galadhrim.

I changed the paints I used for the white areas to give a much colder white. The result is a much starker look with more contrast with the other parts which I think works better for rank and file troops even if it's a nightmare to paint.

I think your painting style is superb, very natural looking which is rather fitting for Elves

The armour on those Galadhrim is insane! The colours just complement each other well! 8)

Thanks. I'm not very confident about my colour selection especially with rank and file troops - other people's stuff always looks so much better than mine. So the positive feedback is appreciated.

Anyway, I finished Galadriel. The eyes are a little wonky because my own eyes aren't so good and I can barely distinguish such small details.

The troops are going to take a little longer. I was messing around with a technique called pin washing which is basically quick black lining using oil paints. The results were okay but some further cleanup is required.

They look fantastic! The painting is so smooth and lifelike! And if those are wonky eyes, then most people, including myself, have no hope  :-D

Great work as always. The right eye of Galadriel is a little big but its seems a bit of skin tone at the top would fix that? The rest of the face is amazing. I wonder if you thought about two tones for Galad's robes as you did for Celeborn? That is, a different colour for the robes over the hands (suggesting a different inner robe). A contrast to the brown might look good. I don't mean to be critical since you are 1000 times better painter than me - but hoping some constructive comments will help you win a Golden Demon one day!
