Just thought i'd show you all my home made chainmail that i am working on:

Wow, that's really impressive!

I know there are a couple of different methods for closing the links—including drilling a tiny hole and then hammering a pin in each link, which sounds crazy to me— but how do you do it?

thanks!

to be honest i was just lazy so i didnt actually attach the ends. i just bent them together with pliers untill the two ends met

It'll probaly fall apart in a few years :shock: :lol:

Looks interesting.

I hope you do a bit every now and then, otherwise it will drive you insane. What's the idea, btw, just a piece of chainmail, a complete hauberk, or something else?
What are you useing for this, thick wire?

That looks so repetetively boring to do though. Must be a bit like painting hundreds of the same orcs over and over.

I've done a few full days solid of it and now I've ran out of wire. :shock: :lol: :?


@aquan: im planning on making either a hauberk or a headpiece depending on how long it takes before it drives me mad 8) :?

Seems like you two have a deal then. :wink:

A Hauberk is a lot more work, but a coif is far more difficult from what I've heard. (never tried it myself though)
