Didn't one of the dwarves have a purple cloak in the book? I think it might have been Dori though...

Edit: just googled it, Nori and Dori did indeed have purple cloaks!

Been trying to finish off a few project while starting others. I got lots of GS and some sculpting tools for christmas so you can probably expect a few more sculpts over the next few weeks.

Aah! two updates in one day! you unlucky people!
I think I've gone into holiday-time-hyper-productive mode!
Anyway here some actual work in progress for once

I made a bunch of sticks out of green stuff and started building the fire.
I also stuck some small rocks and sand in the heart of the fire and when the piece is done I'll paint 'em black/brown to make them look more like burnt logs/coal.

The base of it is a roughly 40mm diameter and the inside of the ring of stones is around 25mm diameter

It is looking great! Maybe you could make a starting fire, with a glow from the middle of the pile of wood.

For this scale perhaps some cotton painted with 'reverse highlighting' like used for "proper" Balrog style (yellow at he heart out to dark smokey edges)?

For example, I have just a little bit of this which I use in my FoW games...

I would just put on a lump of greenstuff and like pull small pieces of it with a needle. Making grooves in the clay and pulling of pieces of the top making that part smaller. Dunno if this is kinda clear what i mean. Works for me tough.

Nice job on the campfire so far. How you sculpt fire depends on how high you want the flames. If you want really high then you'll need a wire armature but I doubt that will be necessary for this project. Its merely a case of applying putty to the logs and stretching it upwards in twists and turns.
