Hey all i am looking at adding a dwarf contingent to my army and was thinking of Thorin to lead them.

Now do i go Oakenshield or Orcrist?

Unsure whether the +1D and shielding special rule outweigh the terror and elven blade rules.....

Why not give him both?
Monotone_matt did a great conversion like that... 8)

Is there a topic on here for it? Will try and search...

But having a shield then negates the elven blade....

Yeah, definitely go for both! The conversion is pretty simple and if you need a clearer guide, hit me up :)

It means you can't use it two handed rule but you can still keep the +1d and terror so I'd take both.

Taking both is legal? Damn, I assumed I had to choose because of the assembly options, damn you EFGT rulebook (assuming the options in the hardcover are described).

I went for the Oakenshield as the Finecast miniature photographed in the rulebook has Orcrist and I figured I'll be getting both anyway!!!

Ah, glad someone cleared that up. I was reading through the rulebook and couldn't find anything stating he can't take both, so I guess I was right to assume you can take both the shield and sword. :)

Also, instead of a conversion, you could try not attaching it with glue so it's interchangeable. My thorin's arms are a pretty snug fit even without glue. :)

Yeah it's a sort of 'snapfit' one...

He can definitely take both. All you have to do is cut off the sword from the shield arms, cut of the blade from Orcrist and glue it onto the Oakenshield and the hand that goes with it. For only a combined 15 pts, you make him an insane heavy hitter (against orcs/uruk-hai/goblins at least) while making him SO much harder to kill.
