I have been thinking about making a small goblin army themed off the goblins in Goblin Town. I don't have the Moria & Angmar Sourcebook yet but I don't think I will need it considering that the Hobbit Strategy Battle Game Rulebook (which I have) has the stats for the goblins.
Here's an example -

Hero: Goblin King (The big fat variant of a Goblin King)
Warband One: highest number of Goblin Warriors with close combat weapons.
Warband Two: highest number of Goblin Warriors with close combat weapons.
Warband Three: highest number of Goblin Warriors with close combat weapons.
Warband Four: highest number of Goblin Warrior with ranged weapons (bows and arrows).
Optional Warband: 2 Cave Trolls.
Optional Warband: The Goblin Scribe.

Will I be able to play within the rules with the Hobbit SBG Goblins and stats without the Moria Sourcebook? Also is there any thing that you would recommend for this small army?
Any and all tips/ tricks, recommendations, information will be appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

As it stands your list is illegal.
- For each warband of misty mountains goblins you need one misty mountains hero. You have 2 heroes, so you need 2 more.
- Misty mountains goblins don't have bows as a wargear option, so you can't have your ranged warband.
- Cave trolls are from other lists (Moria and possibly Angmar(?))so you will need a hero from that list to field your trolls too.

I would add in Grinnah and some generic goblin captains if you want the misty mountain theme, and a Moria goblin shaman so that you can use fury on your goblin horde and he can also lead your cave trolls.

If you plan to only use goblins from the hobbit then you will not need the moria/ angmar book. However, if you wish to ally in cave trolls or moria goblins w/ bows then yes, you will need the book. To be honest, I would recommend picking it up regardless. Just remember each warband needs a hero from their respective list to lead them.

Remember that Grinnah and the mini-Captain can lead warbands.

The starter set is already good to go
Goblin King 12 Goblins
Grinnah 12 Goblins
Goblin Captain 12 Goblins
The scribe
I'm not sure of the points cost total though.
My plan is to take the above, add the finecast Goblin Captain, 12 more Goblins from an additional box, add the extra 6 to the scribe's group.
Then ally with moria for bat swarms, a shaman, and two trolls
And for really large games I'll add some Warg Rider warbands,

I would just go for the box and give the Scribe a full warband. Then use the other 6 for "Always more where they came from". One of my friends was like, "you only have 6 extra, what are you going to use after those 6?" I then pointed out that my goblins have 3 defence, lol.

Good idea, I wasn't sure if the scribe could lead or not

I think the only new Indie hero is Gollum.

In fact Gollum is the only independant hero in the entire hobbit range so far.

That's really not saying very much
