I played a game with my Moria army the other day against a Gondor army and got absolutely smashed! This was my army:

Dweller in the Dark
Durburz
Druzhag
Moria Goblin captain
8x Goblin with spear
8x Goblin with shield
8x Goblin with bow
Cave Troll

I was really disappointed with my Dweller in the Dark who didn't do a great deal. Has anyone played with him before who could give me some tips? :)

first of all when you use duzrag use beasts, now he's useless,
make a shieldwall with your monsters behind and use the dweller to attack heroes and when he dies attack warriors to restore.

As already stated Durzhag is useless without any beasts in your army. Are you using the newest edition of the rules? The Dweller has low defense for a monster. You have to protect him before he reaches his target. His purpose is to kill priority targets and then recover lost wounds by slaying easily beatable targets. Therefore the tricks are: first pick the Dweller's targets with forethought. Musicians, drummers, hornblowers, and low level heroes, captains are your aim.
Then disengage him from the fray back into safety and into an isolated or difficult to support target, in order for the Dweller to recover any lost wounds.

You should always keep in mind your movement range and the three brutal attacks. Rend in particular is extremely helpful for a Dweller as it pretty much guarantees a kill. Barge will also be useful to escape from unfavorable situations, and hurl can be the demise of your initially intended target.

If I may offer another advice for your army: you need more foot soldiers.

Your army in general is weak, you have 3 heroes but only 2 warbands worth of troops. Drop druzhag for a blackshield captain/shaman and max your model limit by dropping the troll. Once you've done that you may notice a difference in how well your army performs.

As said by others, its not the Dweller that's letting you down, its your lack on numbers and the utterless-useless-in-this-army-Druzhag.

Try something like:

Warband 1:
Durburz
4 Goblins w/ shields
4 Goblins w/ spears
4 Goblins w/ bows

Warband 2:
Morai Goblin Shaman
4 Goblins w/ shields
4 Goblins w/ spears
3 Goblins w/ bows
1 Dweller in the Dark

Warband 3:
Moria Goblin Captain
4 Goblins w/ shields
4 Goblins w/ spears
4 Goblins w/ bows
