Yes they can, but they can only use one attack not their full amount (usually 3) and they cannot use brutal powers, nor does their terror have any effect.

The only real point to giving cavarly spears, even if the can support with them, is that if the horse dies, you still have flexibilty in what your now foot soldier can do.

does that mean monsters with spears can support infantry and strike at their strength/fight even though they can't be striked against?

Correct, supporting troops may not be targeted with Strikes should their side lose the combat, nor are they Knocked to the Ground if their side loses the Fight against charging cavalry. Obviously there is more on this in The Hobbit RB - quoting more would be stretching the limits of IP somewhat :)

The whole base size limitation is gone, so a spear - toting warrior can support the mumak!

For now, yes. The base size restriction is gone in the hobbit rulebook. We'll see if it's FAQ'ed.

sorry for referring back to my previous question, but does that mean that when heroes such as Mardin are supporting they only get one attack?

Mardin doesn't actually have a spear. Torozul just counts as a hand weapon. But yeah, heroes only get 1 attack when supporting but they can use might to modify their dice.

Oh come on, not this old nugget.
Mardin has a chuffin spear. lol

Nah SD is right. No spear for Mardin even though he blatently has a spear in his hands right there, just there, in his hands, a spear, in his hands, there, a spear.

WYSIWYG does not apply to any cases where GW designed a model without considering the Profile (or the other way around).

Well, the horn could count as the 6in auto courage passing part of the banner rule.
