Why are the new hobbit characters so expensive :? The cheapest character I have found so far was $30 (about €24) just for a goblin captain  I think it is just too much!
Your thoughts?

Where are you finding a $30 goblin captain? It's $20 Can, and it's in finecast, so when you think about it, it isn't that bad

Size, detail and stuff it's a bit overpriced.

We discussed this else where and iirc the consensus was a lot of it is to do with NewLine changing things up with licensing fees.

Hence why non movie related stuff of the last few years hasn't really been going up in price compared to the overall rice rises and then the new stuff seems to have jumped.

I'd imagine that's Australia. Their prices are always much more ludicrous than even ours here in Canada.

$20 for a Goblin Captain in FC is outrageous, frankly. "Fine"cast miniatures should theoretically be cheaper than metal ones since the material costs less. Tin prices have gone up significantly in recent years, hence the switch.

As an Australian I have one recommendation. In General, don't buy from Australia.

If you are her then there are a multitude of reasons why its more expensive, several of which will hopefully be overcome when they move to more one man stores. Then hopefully we'll miss a couple hundred of the biannual price rise cycles and be on par with the rest of the world.

Or they open a factory here to better serve the Asian market. :D

My thought exactly!

Very frustrating that the prices are pushing gamers away at a time GW really need to be pulling them in post-movie boom

Plenty of English people are willing to post to Australia informally. Ya know, like a present for a mate in foreign places... a friend who also likes sending money similar to value of the item + P&P.
I've seen a fair few offers around especially since the "GW trade Embargo"

That sounds better value than the UK in which he costs £15. And much better than the Australians.

You have no reason to be complaining about prices in the UK, here in the US, we're paying the equivilent of 54 cents more than in England, while Europe is paying over $2 more than in England.

The value of the Euroi went down, so 20 euros i slike £12 I heard.

I have no idea about cents and dollars.

I used the google conversion thing just now, and that should be accurate as of today.

Okay then.

By the way I wasn't actually complaining, I was just commenting because it looked like someone complained about proces being too dear when they sounded quite cheap, I will check google in future.

Generally European prices are just a little bit higher then UK ones.

Depends. Historically they've actually been cheaper.

At one point, you could get GW stuff in Germany, in the GW store for a few euro cheaper than in Dublin. The German price was equivalent or a tiny bit cheaper than the UK price, when the Sterling/Euro factor was priced in.

Now, I bet they're using Irish prices as a guide for euro pricing. Irish prices for anything are traditionally just more than their continental equivalents.

Meanwhile, in Canada...20 bleedin' dollars, plus HST for a little plastic figure. Funny.

If you're in Australia (as I am) try Ozhammer: http://ozhammer.webs.com/
You can also do well off eBay or by asking people nicely to post them to you =)
I haven't bought anything from here for ages!
The worst offender for me are Yazneg and Elrond at $70AU (about 46.50 pounds or 53.40 Euro or 73 US dollars)
That's crazy for a single gaming figure IMHO.
As I've said elsewhere, the new Hobbit releases have been a godsend for me catching up on my backlog as I can't afford the new prices!
