Cheers gothmog. No progress has been made on the eagle since - yet another project started and not finished.

You're in manchester yes? I'm waaay down south, about 4 hours away. Decided to ignore the instructions and sprayed a load of stuff in the garage, I swear it was below 0 in there  seemed to prime alright tho, no problems yet

Time for an update, just a brief one though. 2 evil orcs from Mordor. Kardush the firecaller and a Morannon Orc captain. Both of these beauties will be leading my orcs to war in the ToS next week.

I am hoping to have everything done by the end of the weekend so I can focus on painting my elf twins in their armour. Only got 4 morannons and 4 trackers left to go.

You've brought a real sense of the mystic and magical to Kardush Southy, fantastic work. Can't wait to see him at the head of your army, and pepper a few arrows into him :P

I especially like the face and the fireball, and the red against the purple. The captain looks great too!

Paintpaintpaintpaintpaint, less than a week left!

at the head? silly knighty. Cheers. Credit has to go to Mr Muppetslayer for the tips on painting the fireball, not my strongest area of painting but I think it came out ok.

I wondered where you went. Purple is an interesting colour choice. It suits Kardush perfectly; both magical, and evil. Very well done.

It looks more difficult to pull off on the Captain, but it looks like you have managed to do that too. Well done again :yay:

Did it really get that cold where you are? It got grim up north, spraypainting was difficult but not impossible.

Yeah, got down to -7 some days. Didnt go above 0 most days so got around it by warming the spray can in the house first, running into the garage to spray and then (carefully) running out again so they could dry in the warm. Seemed to work ok.

Keep your eyes peeled for a group shot within the next couple of days, only got 4 trackers to finish then the ToS army is done :D Might treat you to the armoured monkey twins and a few RoN if I can get them done in time.

I know I promised a Mordor army shot but I will do that at the ToS when I have decent light etc etc. After finishing the army, was straight onto the remaining models for my 'friendly' armies (the ones I'm gonna use against Muppetslayer, Knighty and a few others outside of the tourney). Got faramir finished and enlisted the help of my 9 yr old sister to wash my hobbit goblins and drybrush their bases. Just the details to do on those now. Pics to follow.

Faramir

Those of you who are eagle eyed will notice he is painted in my First company colour scheme to match the standard ft troops. (go back a few pages and the WoMT are there somewhere).

Whaaaaaaat? :o

You know I don't have it in my heart to kill Faramir!

Curses the Dunedain we do...

Haha, excellent job painting him on a serious note, the ornate colour scheme suits him perfectly and you've pulled it off really well.

So an actual WIP photo today. A giant spider for the Feb painting challenge.

Image

Credit to Kev for the scheme and all his helpful hints. Obviously a long way to go yet but steady progress.

And for those who were wondering about the metal necromancer model...

Image

I could park a bus in that gap :o

Thankfully the gap on the Necromancer was easy to fill w/ GS considering how rough all the cloth work on the sides were anyway.

Time for another update. Been a while huh?

The spider is still on the painting table  Anyway, MM has kindly invited me to join in his Tale of 4 (now 8) gamers challenge. Decided on a Hunter Orc/ Mordor force lead by Fimbul.

Image
Image

The mordor orc warband is what I'll be entering into the March painting challenge when DMS gets the thread up on monday (providing warbands win)

May have dropped the mounted fimbul as I was gluing him together and his sword snapped off :o Was reading his profile and saw he had a bow so

ta-dah!
Image
I cut up a old plastic mordor orc archer as sacrifice. Very much looking forward to painting fimbul, lovely model. very detailed.

You were reading his profile and saw that he had access to a bow Southy?

Looking like a decent set up, I do think that Fimbul the Nimble looks much better with a bow.

Going for official colours on the hunter orcs or making varieties of your own?

Just a quick group shot of the Mordor Orcs I am painting for the warband challenge/ tale of 8 gamers.

There hopefully should be a massive update soon when I finish everything for month one.

So being the end of march, the first month of the tale of 8 gamers closes. Slaved away for most of day to get them done and I am relatively pleased with how they came out.

Next up for month 2 is narzug and 12 more hunter orcs, including one with a banner.
