Gollum's hand is DIRE. Seriously, been making plastic plaguebearers recently, detail on each finger is fantastic. It looks like he's wearing robot mittens.

More Dwarves! Yay! That Gandalf is awesome for some reason, reminds me of the older mithril designs or old Lotr by GW. Brooding huge beard, hat down. Skipping Gollum though. I don't need two gollums with fish.

I agree. Gandalf seems interesting to me, at least it's something different than the other +-10 Gandalfs we already have :) I am looking forward to seeing him from several angels.

As always, excellent releases, Bibo looks fresh and original, Gandalf more retro.
A must buy all.

I'll be getting the Captain of Dale for sure.
Dwarves have never interested me so won't be purchasing any of them.

Can't wait for Mirkwood Elves and the Beornings really!

Great miniatures, especialy Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf (If some of you has seen the live event with PJ., I think this is maybe (the Dol Guldur Gandalf or) the Tomb of the Nine Kings Gandalf).

The images don't show up for me here, but I headed to La Guerra del Anillo for a glimpse. I continue to remain unimpressed by the Hobbit releases. I think this batch looks pretty bad to be honest. I'm not sure why another Bilbo, Gollum, and Gandalf are being released. Of the three I'd say Bilbo has an epic pose, but it doesn't seem to have quite panned out in the end.

I would also like to say that the 'eavy Metal team seems to have completely lost its way with the paintjobs!

Having seen the Gandalf and Bilbo from multiple angles, I remain unimpressed. The price for one thing (£20 for just those two, when for £75 you get about 50 more models?! Madness!), and I don't particularly like the sculpt. Gandalf looks like a hunchback, and Bilbo looks a bit foolish. I mean, is he constantly vaulting that log throughout the entire battle?

Looks like the only model I'll buy from this release is Thrain.

I have to agree that it isn't too much of a big loss about Gandalf, Gollum and Bilbo being direct only. Horrible sculpts in this hobbyist's eyes.

Why should Gimli to sit on a dead uruk the hole game? In the lotr range there are also models in an battle unfriendly pose. For my they are nice models. Not every model needs to be in a battle pose. Some hobbyist just love to paint. For these people the Bilbo and Gandalf poses are nice sculpts.

I have to agree with Reto here - The sculpts don't look bad to me. In fact they could look pretty darned good all painted up. I don't think the GW paint jobs do them justice particularly but its been that way throughout every hobbit release so far. I can't wait to paint these guys up.

On that note I meant to ask, what do we all think was the thinking behind painting Gollum in that grey colour? I know he is seen in the dark and such but still, I've gotten used to the pinkish colour Gollum we all know and love to hate.

It was intended more as a joke, my Bilbo criticism. My point is though, GW models are designed battle-first, and I don't see why they need to bring out a third Bilbo and Gandalf from the Hobbit when the game's not even been out six months yet, and there is no alternative-weapon sculpt presented in either Finecast set that can't be made in the EfGT set. From a painter's or diorama builder's perspective they may be nice, but to me they don't look like ones to buy at all.

:gollum: Does we looks blue-grey in the movie, precious? We be the one who should look like a guy who's sat in a cave for years and whose skin is dirty and pale, not like a Tau without his armour, gollum, gollum.

Still not buying any... At that price I just laugh and ignore the whole range.
What a shame that they insist on selling the figures at outrageous prices.
Still, saves me giving them my money.
Rant over
