Thanks Sticky and john :)

Well I got rather bored of the norm over the last week or so and so I decided to repaint my Elendil model using the OSL technique on Narsil. Really very surprised with how well he came out and how easy it was compared to my last proper attempt at OSL (Weathertop Aragorn  ).

Comments, criticism and points for improvement especially appreciated on this one as it's something I'd really like to get good at and This is my first decent go at it :) Be as critical as you like :) 8)

Thanks for looking
Sid

Nice work Ezra. I agree with Garm that your heading in the right direction.
I would suggest thinner paints for the OSL in future, they need to be transparent but its a good effort you have done there.

Elendil looks great to me Sid - I would never have thought about using OSL on Narsil either 8) Although I agree that using slightly thinner paints would work well - keep improving at this rate though, and you'll be putting DMS out of a job in no time ;)

Looks great Sid - you've definitely got the right idea with the OSL on the cloak and armour and have used the correct technique in applying the reflections in applying paint in layers and not just drybrushing it on. Maybe next time start with the same base colour and like the others have said water the highlights down more and increase the amount of layers used to apply the effect.

One thing I would say is maybe add a little more blue to narsil, as it stands it is a little difficult to see where the blue reflection is coming from. Check out NMM swords and work from blue to white and it will look perfect bud.

Definite improvement mate - really nice model you have there.

Lovely!
OSL has never been my cup of tea, so I'm afraid I can't give any helpful advice on that topic, but your overall work on that miniature is great!

Thanks John :) OSL stands for Object Source Lighting. OSL is the technique you use when you want to make an object look like it's glowing/shining. In this case the 'object' is Narsil :)

OSL had me pondering for a moment (Outer Space Lunatics?) but the results are fantastic. The ancient dwarf looks fine but I am wondering if you intend to use a wash/inks or similar to get a wee bit more definition in there?
Keep up the good work.
