I added the Fanticide Tree Haunts and Blood Tree to my Treeman collection. I thought it would be fun to make a blood forest.

Image

You can see they are quite bright fall colors. The Resin cores of the trees were designed to use with the Woodland Scenic twist trees. The models are supplied with premade fall armatures. I had to drill out/clean up the contacts for a better fit.

Image

I left them unglued ?unattached ? I will be able to handle them a little better and add more clump foliage and highlight flocking with out getting unwanted flocking on the models core.

Image

I clipped some branches from a 10" tree armature to add to the 5" armature supplied. I will drill a small hole and glue them in before I add clump foliage with contact cement. I will do the same with a D&D treeman I need to make a few in fall colors for the Blood Forest.

Image

I experimented using fall net foliage with the trees. I decided the style won't match the clump foliage. The base coat is Delta Cream Coat burnt umber over black. The Highlight is coffee bean. I used a very large dry brush.
I have lots of details to add. If I should add this to my WIP instead of here let me know.

I worked a little bit more. Time to wait for glue to dry.

I added more branches

Drilled holes then superglue clipped tree parts in the new attachment points.

My contact cement has gone bad. I will have to work on the stair for a while.

"Sorta kina in away"
The tree Haunts are like hostile terrain. Some of the Fanticide armies can pay points for them. A Blood Tree is like special terrain with a special attack. I not unsure of all of the rules I picked up the game Friday.

These look ace. Do you have the rulebook? I'm curious about the warband creation system and how easy it would be to make lotr warband.

The answer is easy. The same type of formulas for points as WH second addition. I do not like the card based activation. I do not think the mechanism is as good as LOTRSG. I am tired of the GW universe. The Game was written by some of GW former game designers. I thought I would give it a try anyway.

Those are really cool looking. Although I must admit the brightly coloured leaves kinda make them lose some of their scaryness as it looks a bit like an 70s afro disco.

I filled in the foliage a little. The child safe contact cement works so poorly I will have to use something. else. I tacked it with hair spray but I will have to come back later.

Later.....I would make a remark about the child safe glue but this is a family friendly site so

I refinished 5 of Tree Forts tables and made a new set of WHFB terrain. The 40K stuff is scruffy too I will start on it soon.
I made the flocking from house paint using the wall colors. The Laser cut buildings are from a recent kickstarter.

Your projects are always a fascination, well done to you again Charlie. I like the flocking idea, something for me to consider.

The big railroad show will be in town next week. I will have access to most every thing available but it is still very helpful to know how to DIYS. I would not have chosen the colors for flocking. The store owner wanted the tables to match the walls. So that is what I did. The saw dust was free the paint left over so it was a low cost solution.
The nice thing about making your own flocking is it can be any color you want.
If you would like me to post some links let me know. Thanks for your nice comments 8)

Column of fire flying stand.

This has been part of my experiment for creating magma for the Moria Table.
I will build a battery box and use a taller dowel but this will work.

Excellent idea that has been brilliantly executed. I love the way the colours are flying around the flames. Is that cotton wool you've used to create that effect ?

I used Poli-Fil a brand of teddy bear stuffing.

There is room for a battery box on both of these flying stands.

Image

One LED with a battery source.

Image

One LED with a flame from Bones. The Poli- Fil does not add much to the effect.

Image

A textured water scrap left over from an old project has potential as lava. If If I can find some more.

The more I experiment with this the harder it is to decide what works best. Any thoughts?

Picture 1 works well for these models, lava I fear not
Picture 2 has potential if done smaller. It has the look of a large lava bubble about to burst
Picture 3 A string of these set under a lava flow may create the look but im concerned about the bright bulb, it may end up looking like a line of dots
Picture 4 complete uncertainty on this one. I like the texture and perhaps if this was flattened out and the bottom cut away to let light shine through the gaps ? A possibility ?
