Yup, myself and a few others play it occasionally when we can all be bothered to drag everything down to the gaming club.

What size points value and factions do you tend to use? Have you got any images?

between 2-3k points usually.

as for pictures, check out this thread for a battle myself and Leonardis did a while back. pretty sure that was 3k points.

Also, have a flick through this album on facebook. Basically a collection of 80% of all my Lotr photos, there are some WotR ones in there.

I just bought the rulebook, and we (my next-door neighbours and I) are hoping that the guys at GW will teach us some time during half term.

Also, what is battlehosts?
What would I need it for?

Thanks,

@lordelrond, you'll be lucky if the guys in GW even know what WotR is :( you'd be better reading the rules and playing small games between yourselves and learning the rules that way.
Battlehosts is the expansion book, not nessecary unless you are planning on buying lots of models and playing competitively. It basically contains some themed army lists that require x,y & z and give some extra special rules.

A buddy and I have a games wanted card posted at the local game shop (Games Plus) in Mt. Prospect (Chicago, IL ...suburb). We got one inquiry to run a game of WOTR, but it never materialized.

I have a few thousand points combined of Harad/Mahud/Easterling forces.
Can field...
Host of Karna
Khamul's Easterlings
Mahud Wartribe
Mumak War Herd

Since giving up on collecting more WOTR size forces, I have collected up some Rangers of Gondor, Warriors of MT, and Axemen of Lossnarch. Still need Forlong, but I got Faramir in armo(u)r. :) I am now focused on getting more varied good forces and start on Mordor too.

Have a buddy in Southern Illinois who has an amazing force of Dwarves. He's got both Battlehosts for Dwarves, and a massive collection besides that as well. He's pretty far away, and we have not run a game in a very long time. Our biggest game was about 5k per side, took 3 days to run it out. We both are not experts at the rules, and many times there were "sticking points" and/or "power gaming" complaints from both our sides.

My buddy has SBG size forces. So all we have to work with is evil for WOTR. However, I have enough movement trays and we can use counters to fill the slots and we are both agreeable to this. We will keep the main company tray with the appropriate models. So a WOTR game could be on the horizon.

On the positive... I am now painting what I am fielding in SBG. So I am slowly painting my forces. Try to get a new Warband painted up for each match now.

I play WOTR with tree guys in the netherlands. Together we can field armies of at least 2k.

We can field:
Mordor
High Elves(with numenor!)
Moria
Dwarves
Rohan

We've had quite a few good battles!

I played some solo games - there is nobody out here in The Wild (just some WH40K fanatics). I live in hope... someday.

Nope

I've seen your blogspot and it seem a lot of work to manage such a website. Since I work about 50h a week I lack the time

I had two that were really just me painting, but they got dull because it was just loads of Easterlings and I ran out of Dwarf models to paint and never had anyone to play against.

I only ask because I've noticed old games that are good don't tend to go away on the internet, even if officially dropped. Warhammer 3rd and OD&D are good examples of games that now thrive via blogs - so I like to collect the links just in case.

One day, WOTR is going to be 'old school'.

I would play with you, but that club-a-ma-thing-a-ma-jiggy is in Cheadle which I found out is a little too far away.

In answer to your question. I'd love to play WotR again, especially at 2,000pts but it's like wishing for Wargs to be real animals.
