Hi there,
Image
Since I used my miniature of the Hound (see above) as my new avatar, I thought it would be fun to show my collection of A Song of Ice and Fire miniatures so far. Now, they're not completely based on the series, although the conversions are quite influenced by it. Here are some pictures...
Lannister Warband 1, led by the Hound:

The Hound is a conversion. I used a Perry miniatures WOTR (wars of the roses, not war of the ring  ) body and arms, a warhammer empire knight head and sword, and quite a bit of green stuff.

And the second warband, led by a brave Lannister captain, ready to give the signal to fire:

And of course, Tyrion Lannister himself, the true hero of the story :D :

His eyes are a bit wonky, but the book did describe him as having mismatched eyes, so I think that's fine in this case.

I have ordered some figures to convert to/paint as new GoT miniatures, so I will post those here when they're finished. :)

Comments would be very much appreciated!
Cheers

That Tyrion looks great! Very recognizable and not only because of his size, he really looks like the character. The Lannister captain with his black and brown armour is also very cool. Keep up the good work!

fantastic work, Sandor and Tyrion look fantastic, and the red is painted really nice too.

:yay: :yay:

However STANNIS is the true hero of the story Tyrion.

Also, why do people say those soldiers are Lannisters? Tyrion is but the Hound, the captain and the warriors are not, they are Westermen. (Sorry for being pedantic)

But house Clegane is one of the houses in service of house Lannister, so the Hound leading Lannister troops would make sense, wouldn't it?

That's not what I meant, I mean you call the soldiers Lannisters when they are not, they have no surname, a Lannister is a member of a family not a soldier. The troops are not Lannsiters. Like Northmen are not all called Starks so it would be Northerners/Northmen and not Starks.

A game of Thrones and Weasel soup?
G.R.R. is a miniature collector. I wonder why there are no official miniatures?

Those Dark Sword miniatures do indeed look very nice, but they are very big when compared to ordinary 28mm miniatures though.

Yes, you're right, but I just call them Lannisters because they are in service of house Lannister.

Yes, they are 32mm scale and look huge next to other ranges.

Love what you're doing with these figures too by the way CyberAlien312, excellent work.

I have some Dark Sword 32 mm miniatures and they mix well with 28 mm LotR range. They are taller, but in my opinion within reasonable range, just taller individuals. More serious issue is that their proportions are more realistic, i.e. they are typically seven heads tall compared to LotR six heads tall minis. And it will be even worse if the rest of the minis in your armies are 1:5 head to body ratio like many of the commonly available ranges.

But if you want to paint some really fun-to-paint miniatures, try anything sculpted by Tom Meier. He's the Man! :)

I've mixed the Dark Sword mini's with Perry's WotR range, they do quite well so long as you don't put them on the same base. Nice Lannisters you have there, reminds me to go on with my own project.
