Hey folks, just picked up some foam this weekend. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to do Rivendell terrain before. I'm talking about the lattice like wood work on will the arches, smd I want to build edoras, which I'll probably end up sculpting the wood detail. But I'm completely stumped on how to even begin the lattice work. Foam is too delicate, wood fractures and splinters at that size. Only thing I've come up with so far is using the rubber coated paper clips. Rubber because I can glue them to each other. This is all in theory at this point.

you could try plasticard tubing, There are a huge variety of types and it's stocked in most hobby shops that do model trains or cars.

also goes by the name of styrene tube

You could look at this bridge for Rivendell: http://www.thomarillion.de/index.php?se ... prache=gb_

If you have google sketchup, you can look at other people's models and there are quite a few rivendell's and edoras's. If you don't have it, it is free, and a great program.

Edoras has its own articles which you could use to make it,
they are found at kb.php?a=3

If it's in sketch up then you can even have it 3d printed at a local makerspace.

For Rivendell check this model, it looks quite like the Grey Hevens but this is actually for Warhammer. It's a very similar design none the less.

Wow, and my german is horrible, but I think I read that's paper! 0-o.....

I should have specified, I'm going to build Meduseld, not Edoras as a whole, just the golden hall

You might want to get your hands on issue 51 of Battle Games in Middle Earth (the one with Gamling on the cover), it's got a fantastic 8-page tutorial on how to build Meduseld, inside and out! It's on my to-do list as part of a whole Edoras themed board but, as ever, it's all about finding the time.

There's also a mini-game (i.e. non-SBG rules) that you play inside the finished hall to free Theoden from Saruman's spell - pretty cool!

It was part of a Rohan themed run, I think the issue before had tips for building Rohan cottages and 52 and 53 had Rohan fortification tutorials (similar to the ones in the link above).

It comes up fairly regularly on ebay for a few quid.

Hope this helps!

Sure but I would need one for myself, I neither have the experience or funding for that, or money for the materials. You still have to put this into a 3d design for it to print, no one is going to take it on as a charity case. In a few more, years as they continue to drop in cost it'd be an option. Not now

Of course! And they can be yours for merely £1000 per page!

I jest of course, I do have the mag and could scan them fairly easily over the next night or two (I have a pile of student essays to mark that I fear will steal my evening tonight!), f you PM me your email I could attach them.

Does that work for you?

Youre looking for Rivendell hey?

Check this then :P

http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthr ... ll-updated

Look for WETA rivendell model, its extremely well detailed, will be easier for you to follow that model and make for 28mm scale
