I really enjoyed paining the balrog, so much so I have 3, however I found it eye straining mostly as you have to focus for so long, and i remember getting some pretty bad hand cramps and an rsi in my thumb.
I advise using a wet pallet for this job

Thanks Yeah first time not using black for the eyes :D. And yeah I need to add some more shades to the rock and maybe water on the base? not 100% sure yet but would love to hear your ideas.

Well, I have that gollum to be painted too and for the base I had the idea make the backside a "normal" base with sand and on the front I wanted to add "water", maybe with the help of glue.

That is a fabulous looking balrog wing! Very eye-catching.
