Quite a while since I've last updated my thread...
Due to flood in my home area and loads of work for uni I didn't have much spare time. However.. somehow I managed to finish the mini of Lady Galadriel of Lothlorien for this month's painting challenge :)
I had to abandon the thought of a freehand on her dress due to the lack of time, but on the other hand I managed to create a base with elvish ornaments for her, that should represent a bit of the "Lorien flair" ;)
C&C is welcome.

This is one of those sculpts that manages to look simple but has a lot of elegant depth - the folds of the cowled gown are particularly neat. I like your rendition - ok, I am biased as I like the sculpt and Lady Galadriel and the image of her waving farewell to the Fellowship as they row away from Lothlorien is an iconic moment in FotR. I like the subtle shading of the gown - keeps it bright but all the folds are visible. Excellent work!

The white cloth is very well executed. Good luck in the voting.

Thanks for nice comments Dothonion and MMS! I really appreciate them!

This time I have an update for the sculpting competition: I guess it's clear what it's meant to be! (NO! Not a troll!!! >< :P ) I will definitely have to make his arms stronger.. What do you think about it?

Image

I tried to give him a more dynamic pose than my first one had:

Rognarr they are fantastic, I never knew your sculpting was so good. To be honest I don't think the arm needs to be much thicker as it is an Ent who are stronger than they look.
Could the right arm do with a slight bend at the elbow to resemble a rock about to be thrown ?

I really like the thin figure 8)
I am not sure what you mean by making the figure stronger. :?:
The ents pose is a little wooden

Wow, thanks Gandlaf! I appreciate your comment a lot! To be honest though: I find Ents relatively easy to create (especially if you get some bits for the face and such ;) ). Thanks for the hint with the strength of the arms, I really wasnt sure but if you say it's ok I will trust you! :) I was struggling with the "throwing arm" nevertheless and thought it would look most natural if it's almost straight.. as if the rock is released by the hand just in that moment... what do you think?

Thanks to you as well Oldman Willow! Wooden pose? :D Good one! The left arm of the thin one was modified with a slight bend a while ago btw. so that it looks a little more dynamic.

How tall are these Ents compared to the GW versions (Treebeard and the plastic kit)?

Hm, good question. Well the new one uses bits from the kit so.. idk ^^ I guess you can compare it?
The slim one is on a cavalry base ( I know.. I have to change this :P ).
Can't give you exact sizes at the moment though, because I don't have them here.

Love them, especially the thin one, that's is what is good about Ents, they are all different. Your sculpting is really good, wish I could do it.

Looking again I think it will work, keep the arm straight.

Really great work on Galadriel's white cloak, and that new ent looks very nice so far! I also like the other ent, seems like a nice and easy idea and it looks very good. :-D

Thank you all for your comments! It's always nice to see that my work can please you ;)

The weekend was busy but I managed to go on with the sculpting of my ent. For example I thickened his legs and added more details like a fungus on his right leg. Also cut out quite a few paper leaves (what horror >< ) and added them to his branches. His look really starts to please me now and I think I'm on the right way.
C & C welcome as always :)
