A client of mine has the following army

Elrond
Gil-Galad
Glorfindel
Erestor
Elladan Mtd
Elrohir Mtd

2 Elven Captains
2 Banners

35 Elven spears with shields

32 Elven bows

32 Elven Blades

18 Knights of Rivendell

He has asked me what he should have me paint next for him to strengthen his army further. Not being a gamer I have absolutely no idea so I said I would ask you guys for help. He is happy to double the size of the army listed above. He has mentioned Dwarves, Men of Gondor or Galadhrim. Help please (and don't say Galadhrim as it would mean more gold lines i'd have to paint)

I would say dwarves all day long! Hardly a specialist at 'winning' battles but I always have fun when using dwarves. Aslong as you have Floi, Shieldbearer, Kings Champion & Iron guard then you will have fun battling and painting!

First, is he aiming to double what he has? Or just complement it? Because that's quite a list already.

In the meantime...

A warband of Gildor and some wood elves (noldorin exiles special rule) could be useful. They get extra movement, and all the useful gear a wood elf has. Also, if he has that many knights he should get Lindir because of his special effect on Elrond (free Will each turn).

If he wants Galadhrim, but you don't want to paint gold, a warband of Guards of the Court led by Rumil would look awesome...just MHO :) For Galadhrim I think a silver and white theme works better, and the Guards have no shields.

If you can get them, Numenorians are always good support for the high elves.

I think he should get Golden Galadrihm, Golden Dwarves, Golden Men, Golden Orcs etc. (Keep the theme here) :) jk

I'd recommend men of Gondor of those three. They're the cheapest army in terms of points and have great variety for their heroes

I'd recommend that your client gets in something that fits in thematically with the High Elves, so other forces from the North.

Everyone seems to think that the new monster rules make monsters very powerful investments, so perhaps Gwahir and a couple of eagles would make for a nice addition. If your client does want to add in a force of men, you could easily ally in some Rangers of the North/Grey Company/Dunedain/Rangers & Warriors of Arnor, led by Aragorn, Arathorn, and Halbarad.

I'd agree with Whafrog that Gildor and some exiles would make a great touch too!

And then, if he really wants to keep adding to it, there's no reason why he shouldn't have a contingent of 500 hobbits.

Ah, I would've suggested men of the Last Alliance. For example: Some Numenorean warriors, Elendil and Isildur. It has a good theme and they're good allies :-D

Very much agree. Rangers and Eagles would make a fine complement, both thematically and visually. Suddenly I want to paint up my eagles that I bought last spring!

If he wants to be competitive then don't take Numenor. They just don't cut it at this level troop wise. The best bet is to ally in some elves from other regions and/ or a wizard. Galadhrim/ Mirkwood/ New Mirkwood will all go nicely with Rivendell. I would also get horses for gil-galad and glorfindel. Turn them into killing machines.
For wizards, any will do. I guess it depends on his style of play. Obviously gandalf is themed, Saruman is very offensive and radagast is the ultimate support dude. Galadriel could also be effective. Magic is vital at a higher points level to shut down any monsters (non-hero especially) and stop them hurling.

Haha tell him you're closed for business, he's not sharing you and it isn't fair on the rest of us waiting in line :-D

Tauriel and a warband of new Mirkwood rangers should be fun :) Theme all day long. Eagles are easy to paint and look great relatively easily :)

The good thing on the numenorians is that they are cheaper than the high elves despite not being as skilled and good archers as them they do still hold a good portion of a good fight value. Another good thing about them its their heroes, a basic numenor captain can fight an uruk hai captain in equal terms and also looks very cool as a model :P

Another nicely costed heroe is Isildur, you want a bugging mighty heroe with a ring? well this guy gives you that but if you want an even more powerfull version of him try Elendil that despite not as good as Aragorn might rule wise its still pretty epic calling out heroic fights every turn he get stuck in as well as having a huge defence value for a man.

Despite this SD is rightly saying they are far better choices than numenor in terms of allies.
Galadhrim and mirkwood are awesome allies and provide you with alot tricky heroes as well as good core and elite troops to give a fight to your oponent despite being lightly armoured.
If you want to be a bit more brute and less subtle, dwarves all the way, even basic strong troops (s4+) have issues to fight things with defence 7, although as a standart dwarf is S3 do not inderestimate them, they like to win fights through attricion to opose to large numbers, so they might be as core wise the best of your choices.
