Thanks for the spider Web link Mally, looks very impressive, one I am going to think on.

Constantine - thanks for your comments, I am over Christmas going to photograph my entire collection of figures and scenery to post here. It's something I have been meaning to do for some time.

SPOILERS ALERT!!!

I wonder if they will ever release a crab spider like the one from the new movie? I suspect not as the sales have been so bad!

Gandalf - glad you asked about Weathertop, I finished the base in the summer, I always like to do a bit of scenery over Christmas and was thinking about painting it. I printed out the painting guide you posted a few months ago. I have painted it with Tamiya all purpose grey primer.

Bilbo - I thought it was some sort of "tough" spider, other people have posted it was a centerpede.? What do you think?

Quick wip picture, still not finished of course

Wonderful mushrooms. Are they part of the tree you bought or one of your additions ?

Been meaning to post for a couple of days now but those spiders looks absolutely fantastic Harfoot, really inspirational stuff!

I love the models but have been very underwhelmed by their profiles, however having seen these and a few others painted around the web I'm defo gonna be picking some up and having some fun converting them.

Do you mind explaining your method of heating the legs (as it clearly works well)? do you bathe the whole leg piece in water and then bend it in the right place etc.?

Keep up the great work!

Hi Dr. Grant, I bent the legs as follows
Glued the four legs on which are joined as a pair.
Then switched the kettle on and held each individual leg over the lip of the kettle spout, one at a time, it only takes about 5 to 10 seconds to make the leg bendable. The lip of the spout acts as a shield to stop the other legs bending.
It's easy to scold yourself mind!
I had the base next to it and moulded each leg to the base.
Once all 4 legs were in position I attached another 2 of the front legs, bent them and then finally the rear legs.
It's really easy but just take it slowly.

Mirkwood Spiders finished, great models to paint. Sometimes when you are painting them the scuplt is so realistic you think they are going to move.

This is my Spider collection, the smaller ones are the orginal GW metal ones. The larger needs no introduction!

Thanks for looking

You achieved an absolutely realistic and natural look! You really have to look twice to be sure they are "just" minis ;)

Great work, really makes the models come to life (though hopefully not literally). Would be great to bring such a force to a tournament, and then come across an arachnophobic opponent...

well done, ghostly atmosphere
Just wondering if they would have looked even scarier if they had darker based bases.

Amazing, I simply love them, to the point where I am actually considering buying finecast models, that is a whopper of an achievement.
High praises!
