Early last year I purchased the citadel finecast Fellowship boxed set. I tried to start a WIP on the subject of completing them. This didn't go as planned thanks to unforeseen circumstances but I have now returned to the task with the target of painting one model per weekend. I hope you enjoy it!

Being one of the old guard the Finecast box set is such a strange mash up of poses and model it feels really weird.

Some good poses in there though, Emyn Muil Sam, Weathertop Merry and Helms Deep Legolas probably the 3 best of the bunch.

hollowcrow: I get what you mean. I am actually painting the Aragorn model from weathertop, which is in metal as I hated the static 'to me' pose of the included model. Didn't feel mobile enough to use in battles like moria or amon sul.

Miniature number one is... Samwise Gamgee! Took about 3 and a half hours. Still using the 'old paints'! Chaos black and skull white ftw!

I wish they'd released the set with some consistency. With the original Fellowship set we got them all in the Mines of Moria at the time of the Balin's Tomb battle. With "Breaking" we got them at the time the Fellowship broke...Khazad Dum for Gandalf and Amon Hen for the rest of it.

For this set we get Merry at Weathertop, Pippin and Gandalf and Boromir in Moria, Legolas at Helms Deep, Gimli and Aragorn at the Pelennor Fields, Sam at Emyn Muil and Frodo at Osgiliath. It hits all my OCD buttons.

Not to mention they've used one of the less good Aragorn poses, the pose where Gimli seems to have trouble with his axe, and the worst Pippin pose.

Plus the fact that the only Aragorn model with an elven cloak and his costume for 2/3rds of the movies is now OOP. They should've used Breaking of the Fellowship aragorn or at least the original Aragorn with bow.

Oh well, painting is great so far man.

Yes I do agree with you on that! Hey ho! Thanks for the compliment! :)

Your painting is off to a good start, and you have set yourself a neat set of goals - small steps toward a bigger goal, something I have always found works better in life than having one sky high ambition.
As for the many poses/variations on The Fellowship and its respective members at various points in the story, I am sure someone will know exactly how many there are of each, what features they had and what material(s) they were made in. I lost track years ago (but I probably have most if not all of them).
