I've got my first tournament on Sunday and this is the list I am taking into it, it is an 1000 point tournament. Does anyone have any tactical advice for me, or any advice in general really? The games being played are Lords of Battle, Domination and To the Death.
Also can model equip with a elven blade and a shield still use the elven blade 2-handed and benefit from the shields 1+ defence?

LEADER: Hero: Glorfindel, Lord of the West (Armour of Gondolin, Asfaloth)
6 High Elves (Spear, Shield)
4 High Elves (Elf Bow)

Hero: Rivendell Knight Captain
4 Rivendell Knights (Shield)
1 Rivendell Knight (Banner, Shield)

Hero: Rumil
4 Guards of the Galadhrim Court
3 Wood Elves (Elf Spears)
4 Wood Elves (Throwing Dagger)
1 Galadhrim (Banner, Shield)

Hero: Thranduil (Bow, Armour)
3 Galadhrim (Shield)
6 Wood Elves (Elf Bow, Elf Spears)
2 Galadhrim (Elf Bow, Shield)

Hero: Beregond (Horse)
3 Knights of Minas Tirith (Shield)

Hero: Ranger of the North (Horse)

47 Model Count.
Force Broken at 23.
25% at 11.
21 Bows.
12 mounted models.

I like the list I really do. I won't say take it away, but be very careful with that banner....especially if it is far from some of your close quarters troops. And I don't know if told you in your other topic but gorgeous leader of your army. Good luck.

Unfortunately the list isn't legal. Several of your contingents have too many bows, as it's calculated per allied force; i.e your Rivendell list with Glorfindel needs to have less than 33% of the models armed with bows, as does the Mirkwood one.

Actually all his bows are fine. Mirkwood and the Galadrhim are under the same list so they're 33% or less. And the High elf contingent is also fine, it's 33% of 10 (3.33) rounded up to 4 so he's fine

You round up to the nearest model, I've used the Army Builder spreadsheet and alls good in that.

If you've included bregond then I would focus on getting more troops. Really you want atleast about 52 models (4 full warbands) at this level.

Looks pretty good. Its a shame that pikes cannot support spears anymore. Have a great time!

Which banner do you suggest to drop? And where should I add troops?

Remember to bring a board, shoe box lid or butt-kicking-face-melting awesome display board. To easily move your minis from table to table. I'm bring a Florsheim box lid, nice brown earth tone, sturdy cardboard rofl.

and to have lots of fun! I'll see you there mate. We're gonna kick butts for sure.

I would drop both. 10 or more models will be a lot more effective.

Dropping both will only get you 50pts to work with. At most it's only going to be 5-7 elves and maybe a man or two more. I would say defiantly drop the banner with the knights and use those points to boost your numbers somewhere. You might be able to sneak in two more gondorian knights with a little tweaking.
About the banner on foot, it's up to you. You can drop it and get some more soldiers but most of your warbands are already full, so it may cause more trouble than it's worth. Plus having at least one banner is always good for certain scenarios and in a shieldwall.

I ended up dropping the knight's banner and added an extra minas tirith knight and a wood elf and some equipment here and there.
The banner wouldn't have helped so the extra numbers was better.

Lost the first game I faced an army of the dead, galadriel, multiple storm callers who never failed their natures wrath :( , wood elf spears and ents combo = had no idea how to play it so deployed all wrong and took the entire game to get my [word deleted] together, only lost 13 models but I only killed 10 in Lords of Battle. Glorfindel with all his Will and Free Magic resistance never once resisted natures wrath successfully, but never lost a fight even when on the ground and surrounded haha.

Second game I had a faced a generic mordor list (trolls, witch king, gothmog and war leader shagrat with orc spam) I held it in the centre and then crushed it from behind with cavalry, I lost 12 models and killed 50+ in Domination, Glorfindel personally killed 10 orcs, the witchking and the troll chieftain. I took all but one objective so easy win in the end.

The third game shaped up to be interesting with an Isengard army with 16 beserkers forming the centre with a phalanax, scouts, crossbows and saruman generic however he took Gollum who was a pain in my side for most of the game!
Surprisingly the 10 high elves mananged to dispatch most of the 16 beserkers with only 2 of themselves dieing! Around the board each warband pitched in and successly took more kills than deaths. A special word for the few wood elves who held back 2+ beserkers each for multiple turns! This however was nothing compared to the spam being sent at a isolated and surrounded Glorfindel in the centre who each turn faced 3-10 enemies and never once lost a fight in the end killing 10 or so Uruks with most being beserkers. It pained my opponent to pile soldier after soldier into the meat grinder that was Glorfindel. In the end it was a rather convincing win with Isengard below 25% and myself at well above 50% in To the Death.

GLORFINDEL was a beast, never lost a fight, killed 5 Army of the Dead, 10 Orcs, The Witch King (full stats), a Troll Chieftain, 6+ Beserkers, 3+ Uruks.

It was a good experience especially when I somehow won the Best Painter/Display Award and came in the top 3 over all. :)

I learned to not forgot your stuff at home then have to drive back making you the last to arrive for the events is not a good habit :P But also throwing daggers suck, Galadhrim Elves with shields and bows are a point sink compared to a regular wood elf with bow. And Galadhrim Guards and Rivendell Knights dish pain like no one else = get moreeeeee! Also deploying my terrifying, nature wrathing Thranduil with bowmen is damn stupid.

Legolas would have been better for that.

Congrats Rigg!

Glad you learned lots, and again congrats on both the awards!

Good job man. I see elves as a tougher force to play for your first tournament. Good job!

Thanks guys! I am looking at adding another heavy hitter for some kicks. Elrond mounted plus Lindir or Gwaihir and a great eagle or Treebeard or the Monkey Twins mounted in heavy armour. If anyones used these and can give me some insight that would be sweet!
