Ordinarily this would be great but in narrow streets with other troops that he's boosting (with the banner) it would actually be more that he's giving up than gaining by mounting Boromir.

Unless you've seen the board we can't really start saying the streets are going to be that narrow.

Warband 1

Boromir, Captain of the White Tower with Banner of Minas Tirith
12 warriors of Minas Tirith, five with shield, six with spear and shield, one with war horn

Warband 2

Faramir, Captain of Gondor with heavy armour
12 warriors of Minas Tirith, 5 with shield, six with shield and spear, 1 with banner

Warband 3

Cirion
12 Citadel Guard, 6 with spear and 6 with bow

Warband 4

Madril
12 Rangers of Gondor, six with spear

Warband 5

Damrod
12 Rangers of Gondor

Warband 6

Beregond
12 Guards of the Fountain Court with shields

Warband 7

Captain of Gondor with shield
12X Osgiliath veterans, six with shield, six with spear

Warband 8
Captain of Gondor with Shield
12x warrior of Minas Tirith with Shield

Army total is 1, 459

Added in two warbands of troops, including Osgiliath veterans. I choose not to give Boromir a horse. I've seen the board before as well, and a few streets are small. There's some open areas, but the in the game I watched before, these areas were packed. Not much use a mounted warrior would have.

I'll see if I can get pictures, must have some stored away somewhere. They'll help a little bit I'm sure.

Well you have points left so if nothing else you should add more equipment on your troops that can have more. I'd put the FG as Boromir's Warband and give Beregond the standard troops, Just to make sure you have that F5 hammer ready lol.
Give all your Rangers, FG, and CG spears. And give all your Os Vets shields. That should fit in without losing your total over 1500 and give you more flexibility and survivability

Make sure you keep the vets with Faramir and Boromir. You'll find the extra courage and f4 can make a huge difference. As far as the banner is concerned, considering you now don't have a useless peon in the back dodging arrows youre spending about 18 points for increased fight in a 3" radius. You'll usually get 6 fights affected if the big B is in his place. Never seen that banner not worth it.

Yeah but thats just a tiny part of the board. If his opponent is smart, hell feed them garbage and murder his flanks with good troops.

A small part that can move around the board... Its not as if its stationary so its an "unstoppable force" for your opponent anyways. The point of the banner isn't "Oh this covers everything". It's the hammer that you can use to smash through anything. And with Boromir's might, they'll be heroic combating through the streets and moving quickly.

And anyway, with the banner Boromir still doesnt beat trolls fight value just ties them.

This is immaterial. The point is Boromir no longer needs to use his might to simply force this. He can fight them and rely on a roll off as opposed to just being beaten (if he chose not to heroic strike).
.

1-True, it moves, but this is in tight city fighting with that amount of troop level. More than likely, its not going to be moving more than 4 inches unless he keeps an amazing shield wall in front of it, or has some lucky kills to make himself some path.... Its going to be back and forth charges.

2-Thats true. Boromir mixed with troops though has enough might to do it without wasting that much. Id just personally have more troops. But its a choice Id make not everyone.

Use every single last point you can until you reach the limit. Every extra spear and shield you can get in there makes a huge difference.

Also Give Boromir the elite troops in his wwarband. Either Osgiliath vets, citadels or fountain guards. Fighting ability of 5 will get you places.
