Historicon will be in Fredericksburg, Virginia this year from July 16-20 at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center. Although the convention is historical gaming themed, there is a variety of tabletop games from all genres. There are several Hobbit/Lord of the Rings games on the Preliminary Events List.

I will be running the First Battle of the Fords of Isen scenario for War of the Ring on Saturday, July 19th at 1:00 PM. Theodred and Grimbold must hold the fords and hope Elfhelm will arrive in time with reinforcements. We have room for six players and plenty of formations to push.

So excited to see you on the list. Xinato will be there also with his asteroid base for x-wing. Hope to be there. Just wondering what does your Elfhelm look like?

Yes I will be running my Asteroid buster X-Wing game. Sadly it looks like I will miss your Fords of Isen. I should be coming off the flea market and then I have X-Wing at 6 or 7. Hmmm maybe I can squeeze it in.

I ran Fords of Isen at Fall In

Here's my battle write up with pics:

Good luck with your game, I will be sure to stop by if I can't play.

Xin

I hope to see you there Xin. I have played Fords of Isen using SBG and this will be the first time using WoTR. Finishing up painting my last Rohan Warriors now and will playtest in June.

I am changing the scenario slightly from what's in the WoTR rulebook based on what I've read in Unfinished Tales. Grimbold's Helmlingas and some archers will start on the west bank of the Isen with Theodred's Knights, Oathsworn militia, and archers on the east bank. The Evil force will consist of Isengard Orcs, Warg Riders, Dunlendings and Uruk Hai Scouts. This is the vanguard of Saruman's forces and the main body of 10,000 would still have been at Isengard. Tolkien writes that the Uruks at the battle were heavily armed, but could travel quickly over long distances. The scouts in WoTR best fit this description as I think the main bady would be more heavily armed along the lines that Jackson portrayed his Uruks.

Batrep will follow of course.
