Looking very good, inspirational as always. Appreciate the photography problem, i haven't posted any WIP pics for ages due to lack of any half decent camera.

I've finished off the eagle by adding the boots and a white dot in the eye. The eye got a coat of gloss to make it stand out a little more.

Next up is the troll which I have started. Base coats to the cloth and straps but I have applied the first stages of highlight and shading to the skin.

that is a fantastic eagle ! Wow !

The eye is perfect and the subtle shading and highlighting all around is just top notch.....Very nice job

The eagle is just perfect! The eye is absolutely lifelike and the details (e.g. at the talons) are brilliant!
I'm not so sure about the light coloured troll.. will you keep it like that or go for a darker tone later?

I have deliberately gone lighter but the overall look will be darker. The scales on the skin are still to be done and by the time the cloth and armour get done then it should have a generally darkish look, though not too dark

The eagle is brilliantly done. I like the detail in the browns, then in the greys. Superbly highlighted eye. Well done!

Really like where this is going - the eagle looks great, very natural colour scheme. Can't wait to see more work on the troll and the whole piece come together!

Hey Gandalf, You are right, taking the extra time on the eagle is worth it. I love your take on the scheme. The troll is coming along well, poor Pippin is going to be scared out of his wits to have the vitals and blood of that thing poor out over him as it topples over crushing him...good thing those eagles came (At least pippin was able to keep Beregond from having his throat bitten).

Great work so far. Hope to see the rest come together.

I have got the troll progressed a little today, some more shading and highlighting to the skin. The scales are done and Ive started on the cloth.
I'm hoping you see a darker figure coming together.

The eagle looks incredible. I think adding the white dot to the eye really makes it stand out.

I'm a bit surprised that you haven't opted for the metal troll chieftain in all honesty. Did you feel that the pose wouldn't work for your diorama?

I have a metal troll but I was just happier with this version. It has the look of attack with the advantage of the raised left arm to show surprise at the eagle attack.
