This topic has been highly debated already....Ill just say we know in SBG almost any army has an equal chance.

The biggest tournament Ive gone too.....well, here are the results:

1- Arnor/Fiefdoms
2- Mordor
3- Dol Guldur (Hunter Orcs + Necromancer)
4- Mordor
5- Isengard
6- Moria/Angmar
7- Army of Thror
8- Thranduil/Lothlorien
9- Thranduil/Lothlorie/Thror
10- Fiefdoms
11- Rohan
12- Azogs Hunters
13- Goblin Town
14- Minis Tirith/Rohan
15- Moria

The only army in the top 6 was based around the Necromancer, and old model.

Other than that, hobbit armies predominantly took the lower half of the scoring.

Sure the people in charge make a difference....but the point is, if there was such a stat creep, where are all the Hobbit models taking the top 5 positions?

I've looked farther into the new rules and I am now eating my humble pie. They aren't as outlandish as i originally thought. In fact, I'm rather glad that monsters got a boost, and very pleased that weapon strikes are cost/benefit based (IE- feint = drop F value to increase odds to dmg [elves with elven blades are they as good at feinting as I think they are?]).

I went to a tournament called the Australian Masters on the weekend. It's meant to be a top level tournament and it's arguably the most competitive. There were no Hobbit armies there. There were a couple of fell wargs in evil armies but that's it as far as hobbit models go. The most used and most competitive army overall was Harad and Umbar, not a hobbit army.

Haven't seen any Hobbit armies around here either. Some have a few new models in, but most are just LOTR. So no, there is little to no power creep in the recent releases. On the contrary, some of them are overpriced. But there was definitely power creep with the Corsair Reavers and Watchers of Karna.

That's only true if you spam them. Look at Harad (not Umbar), Mahud warriors/raiders and their heroes are all over-costed by a fair bit. So a few point or two under-costed models doesn't bother me, until someone abuses them

It's more the stuff that came out after the films, King's champion, reavers, named wraiths ect that had power creep, though I think that monsters are overpowered now as they effectively get heroic actions without any kind of limitation or downside (even special strikes have these and have have to be declared at the start of the combat.)
