So im fairly new to GW's LOTR and i want to start a Rohan army. I do like giving my armies a theme and for this one, I was thinking Helms Deep. All i have though, is 12 warriors and Theoden, I was wondering what to do next.

Definitely pick up some riders of Rohan. They can move fast, charge hard, and they have 100% bow limit.

Also, if you want to make it helms deep themed(an idea Im workingo n too) how many points?

For sure if you want an all encompassing army Id own at least:

Theoden
Gamling
Aragorn
Gimli
Legolas
Haldir

Then for warriors
Riders of Rohan
Galadhrim Elves
Warriors of rohan of course

So let me know a points value, and Ill be able to give you a better idea than such a huge list.

I just picked up a box of riders and they're really fun, been playing around with posing, only one painted. As for the others i have Theoden (subtly converted) Eomer and some warriors. All this took only about a month as some were give to me by friends.

Im going for an 800 pt list and hoping to expand using that.

If your doing a Helmsdeep themed list they you should consider Rohan royal guard for Théoden and Hama to lead. As well as Grimbold for his troop upgrade which are both useful and themed for just such a list.

I'd look at ebay. There are often warriors and raiders of rohan only 50% or less of the GW price. At a Helms Klamm theme I'd take

Theoden foot an mounted
Aragorn "
Gamling "
Hama "

Royal Guard "
Warriors of Rohan
(Eomer foot and mounted + Riders) or
(Erkenbrand (themed walking with warriors, competetive mounted with redshilds))

In the books Hama dies at the Hornburg in helms deep. Also Eomer is present and Gandalf arrives with Erkenbrand to relieve the defenders.

I do have Eomer so i should use him.

Also im going for more of a film theme.I mean, I love the books i prefer the to the films but i would quite like a change so no Hama

Ive also got some Isengard Urak Hai warriors ordered as im thinking of collecting them.

Well, I just finished watching the return of the king which means ive finished all the books and films. And I have to admit, I cried . I was so sad. But I realised something, the Pellenor is WAY cooler than Hornburg so, as im never one to stick to a project, farewell and check out my new topic Pellenor themed Rohan army.
