Time to pick your winner. Here are the entrants. Unfortunately Son of Fundin did not submit finished pictures of his boar rider. My apologies for the lateness of this thread appearing!

Note as per the Painting challenge, in future submitting pictures via attachment will no longer be an eligible option. It simply takes up far too much time to sort out the voting thread. Use an image hosting site such as Photobucket or Imageshack and link them across. Thanks to all entrants this time around for not submitting attachments. 8)

huh, I was expecting more than 4 entries. And I'm disappointed that the scratch sculpted Hog wasn't entered, I would have voted for that.

I'm a big fan of Halauas' work in general and this one certainly doesn't disappoint

@King Ondoher: It's god to know that, but as dwarfs don't ride boars in the new Hobbit movie and I wouldn't have been allowed to enter anyway, so I didn't see a point in finishing it...

Great work by everyone, it was a hard decision!

@King Ondoher: Nice conversion, the copplestone base looks nice and the idea is very creative!

@Grungehog: Two entries in two months, that's a word! I think the bear form was the better decision, it looks very nice! I can highly recommend you to look for pictures of bear anatomy in the internet, print it to the right size and then make a wire armature. That way the proportions are correct, yours (or better Beorns... :-D ) look a little bit off. Apart from this I'd sculpt the fur as Dave suggested in your thread. Nevertheless you got my vote because the effort is definately worth more then 6 votes.

@abcdef: As I already said before, very nice conversions with lots of little details, I like them!

@halauas: As for all of your Dol Amroth minis a very nice conversion idea! I can highly recommend you to use Clay Shapers and to mix some Milliput / Fimo in the Green Stuff. Then the putty is less hard and you can easily smooth it with the clay shapers and blend it into previous layers. Then you can create folds by rolling little putty sausages and blending them in the base layer...

Thanks, got the idea from DMS.

Also, yay! I have A vote at last!

And no, I did not vote for myself, I voted for the Elves.

Thanks son of fundin. I did actually look at a lot of pics of bears on the internet but I didn't seem to get the head quite right and I don't really like the small mouth real bears have, arguably this is no mere bear but indeed a mythical creature by any standard.

abcdefg I really liked the Elves, very clean conversions and nice way of using the lances from the KoR set

Halaus I do like the helmet design on your Paladin, but I was not convinced by the cloth work which could be smoother and have more detail.

And king onodher I think it is an effective conversion/design but my greatest problem funilly enough is more to do with what the model actually counts as per say, having a sword shield and heavy armour. I would love to face a fully painted up warband of these on the table.

TL;DR:

For friendly games with my opponent's permission, I'd make up a profile.

For tournaments or games when my opponent doesn't consent to a custom profile, I'd run a warband of 6-12 Fountain Court Guards and a King of Men to lead them (and just say that he's one of King Arvedui's predecessors).

Click to: Show
Maybe...The Fountain Court Guard profile but with sword & shield (no spear) and borrowing the special rule from the Mirkwood Palace Guard (+1 to Fight value when King Arvedui is within 6", or something).

So that would be Fight 5, Defense 7 (with shield), Courage 4 Bodyguards alongside King Arvedui.

For games when I can't use custom profiles, or in tournaments I'd just run a separate Warband from the Minas Tirith list of a King of Men leading 6-12 Guards of the Fountain Court. And I'll just say that I'm not using the spears for the sake of fluff and aesthetics, or I'll convert a few extra Arnor Guards with spear and shield.

If proxies are allowed, I'd use my King Arvedui model with the King of Men profile (the actual Arvedui profile is nothing special IMO). If not, then I'd just use a King of Men model and say that its an older King of Arnor one of Arvedui's predecessors.

Thanks everyone for the voting, sad to see only 4 entries in the end.

@JamesR : Really thank you, this surely gives me a lot to continue my projects! truly appreciated.

@Son of Fundin : Thanks for the advice! i am a very beginner at ''sculpting'' (not even sculpting actualy, just the stage of adding parts on miniatures)
I have already purchased milliput thanks to your advice and will try what you told me on the very next attempt. Gladly i have all the right tools already as my original job is jewelcrafting but i am used to sculpt/casting straight on metal, greenstuff seemed too soft on my hands still every single advice is welcome and will surely try it!

@Grungehog : Looking at all the great conversions/sculpts from people on this site i am not convinced aswell do not worry :) I understand your point but as my level is still beginner i will try better next time, criticism is welcome and i like having my faults pointed out so i can work on them.
