Hello!

Ive finally finished my Gothmog mounted with casualties.
I tried to give each casualty a bit of story and I had an idea on how they got there wounds.

So, if youve read on my posts you may know Ive been working on making Talion from Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor.

It started life as Aragorn
Image

I started looking for picture of Talion and got a few good ones to get a better Idea of what stuff he had on him and whereabouts they are. After this I cut away the Scabbard, and put that to one side, I then cut Aragorn's dagger down. I decided to have the longer broken end facing outwards as Talion uses it like that in one of the combat kills. The bit of the dagger I cut off I kept and put to one side.

I read through alot of green stuff items, being this is the first time I had used it I wasnt sure about how to use it and how it would look or anything but anyway. I made his cape.

Image

After I let this dry, for 24hours, still wasnt 100% happy with how it dried. With some of the spare metal pieces I cut down a small pocket what Talion has on his left hand side and glued it into place. I added his "belt" (I cant think of what else to call it) This was easier than I first thought, after cutting the piece, it pretty much fell into place and I let it stand for 24 hours

Image

I gave the cape a few layers of PVA glue to strength it up. I cut some small metal pieces that hold nails together and added to the dagger. I used super glue and when was dry added a tiny layer of pva over that part of the blade just to fill the cracks. (Looks better)

I also added the fur edge to the cape. I thought this would be alot harder than it ended up being.

Image

Finally when that set I did the same around the neck. I glued the scabbard and the little piece of the dagger together, after sanding one side down. When they had set I used a wee bit of green stuff and made the little bit of cloth that Talion has on his back.

Image

Before I undercoat it Im leaving it alone for a few days so everything can 100% set, I have made the edges of the cape stand out a little bit more by removing where the glue has set right on the edges. But thats it. Just the painting bit next

:)

Thank you :) Im happy with how he looks at the moment. I like how the cape has turned out, especially when it was my first time using green stuff or anything else like that :)

Just been working on 1 Goblin today, might do a bit of Gandalf later, I will be slowing down on Talion until next week I think. He may get undercoated, just got to wait for some new paint to arrive. :)

Just a quick one, Brought Saruman on foot this week and today just finished. It was finecast. I tried making it look the same as my other mounted version but tried a different technique of painting him.

One problem I had was his face, on the left part the paint had dried but started peeling why did it do that?

Ill put a photo up soon, I will put a photo of Saruman when I first started painting when I was about 11 or 12. He was one of the first models I got outside of the fellowship then.

Paint peeling/chipping is one of two things:

1. Mold-release residue -- Some minis need a quick scrub to get the mold-release agent all the way off. That said, I am guilty of not always doing this, but it can cause problems if you don't.

2. Defective undercoating -- Sometimes you get a bad can of primer or maybe you used it when it was too humid. All of these things can effect the final outcome.

The first picture is my now Saruman vs my original Saruman, It was one of the first models I got and about my 2nd painted one. I hope you agree that I have improved, just a little bit :P

Image

This is the foot and mounted versions
I tried making them look the same, but used two different techniques to paint it

Image

This is the best picture I took of Saruman, you can see that his eye isnt that great, but it looked better than what it did when the paint was really coming off. Still dont know why, I washed the model, let it totally dry and dont think it was humid as other models havent done it .But anyway

Image

I wanted a more "fighting" pose for this one and wanted to improve on my other Saruman

Dont think Ill be doing much on Talion this week, maybe undercoat, going to be a bit busier, going to add eyes to Gandalf the white this week and hopefully finish Gandalf the grey.

Havent had much time to do full modles for the past few weeks, next week hopefully should have. But in the mean time I ve added tiny bits of detail to some figures

Radagast
Image

I added eyes, eyebrows, re painted his staff stone, the dagger, the bird and redid his cape. Then added bits of flock on the base.

Ive also done roughly the same with Gandalf the white mounted. When Ive finished Gandalf the grey conversion then Ill upload him then

Lovely work so far, keep it up! Really like your Saruman, the colours really work well!
Also, well done on your sculpting, especially the cloak on Gandalf. I've sculpted just once and it doesn't look as good as yours haha :)
