Can Bard take both a Windlance and a Horse?
So to fire the windlance a few times in the opening turns then ride into combat?

Isn't the answer obvious? The Windlance is mounted upon the horse by a complex apparatus that always him to fight and fire with as much ease as if it wasn't there!

lol  I absolutely agree that it is technically ridiculous to combine the two, but unfortunately, yes he can take both a horse and a windlance...

Since they are 2 different models, how would that be legal?

Read the Windlance's rules. Bard must move into base contact with it to fire it but can move away from it as well to go fight. The bard on the model's base is mostly there for scenic purpose i suppose.

At least we don't have a model of Bard using a bowstring, two wooden posts and his son's shoulder as a model....
