Alright so my next layout is Moria!! Lots of styrofoam chipping, cutting, and hacking for this one. This layout is designed for recreating the events in the movie and also fitting everything on a 48"x40" board. These pics are only the first half which inlcude, the entrance, Durins Tower (on right) , stairs, (back right), some goblin tunnels, the "do not disturb the water" area (front), and the beginning of the pillar room. The second half will have the remaining pillar room, Balins Tomb, and the Bridge of Khazadum! My goal is to incorporate the winding , dark passage ways and rooms of Moria. This will be an exciting environment for miniatures that tell the story of "going into the mines" just like in the film..........much more work ahead!!

Nice work! Just one question...how do the doors open? Are they hinged, or will they be? Or are they free and did you just place them in an open position for the picture?

Thank you, yes I placed the doors open for the pic, there will be small hinges put in so that they swing!

Me too! I will post a completed moria in a week. I'll base coat everything black, and then I'll be painting with a few different shades of gray and really make those rocks and ruins pop!

I am speachless.
Beautiful work.

Definitely, your job will be my inspiration for Moria diorama which I want to make someday in future.

Looking great! Love the door in particular, Celebrimbor's runes and all!

Will be great for Balin's expedition and FotR Mines of Moria scenarios.

It looks fantasic, and it must have been testing trying to fit all that into one bpard carefully. I have a concern though - it doesn't look like it has much ground room for fighting on. Are most of the passages quite narrow?

Thanks , yes the passages are narrow, they measure 3-4 inches in main areas. The boards theme was particularly designed for smaller scenarios and for recreating the adventure through Moria as seen in the film. The layout has an intriguing feel to it, as if ur looking in on all of Moria!

incredible! Never seen a moria board of this size! You must have a ton of tiny pink foam pieces flying around now :D
