I wonder if Age of Sigmar is going to be like Fellowship of the Ring journeybook era SBG, with the entire focus on playing scenarios with whatever models the book tells you to use.

I just can't believe they went for a system with no points values. Anything you want against anything the other player wants. Who needs balance?

Sounds like fun on the surface but eventually people will complain about the lack of fairness.

I think this will morph into something else very quickly.

Try

number of wounds + number of A X the bravery value: thats gonna get your model point point.

like saurus warrior
1 wound + 2A x 10 bravery = 30pts

High elf spearmen
1 wound +1A x6bravery = 12pts

Things with multiple Attacks just random halve it to half like D6 = 4
if heroes got multiple weapons jsut check how many they can use and add to the count.

Like if a scart vet on a carnossaur would had both blade and spear
12 wounds + 20A x 10 = 320pts

Hope it works cause it seems way better now...

Still its house rule though

Maybe I'm not the only one but I'd rather like the rules, but not for fantasy.
However I could see it work for lotr, converting stats wouldn't be that hard I guess.
So, anyone intrested? I could spare some time to try to convert it and try it out.
(only point costs would come in handy ;) )
I could see it as a way to get small units of lotr figures and work the combats out faster (also, more subtle options of different weapons, like the 2" reach for the spears and the like)

You do know AoS is a poor man's SBG? Why play something of lesser quality that also happens to be broken on top of it?

I could see it as a system to play lager battles with my lotr miniatures, I really get turned down to ever play a +50 model game of lotr, it takes to long and get's to messy for my part

You must not really like the War of the Ring system which was meant to field large armies.

Not really, I like the more squad based level of things. Where the individual placement still has a small value, rolling their attacks at the same time also speeds the game up, this is where I find larger SBG battles rather, yeah boring.
For real skirmishes (10-30 models in my eyes) I would keep using SBG ofc, that's why I mainly turned to battle companies these days.

I am thinking of starting a small nurgle warband for age of sigmar. I much prefer round bases.
Would Blightkings look best on a 40mm round base?
What would you base a lord on steed on, one of the bike bases or one of the new oval bases?

I would go for the 40mm bases, but while I checked the site, they're sold out!

I'm excited for the paints! Beautiful gold khazad guard coming soon! Elves would look great in Sigmar paint scheme, and Eastern kingdoms would look nice in that gold too. Shame mine are already almost done.

No matter how hard we try, we as a group just can't stand AoS. This is really a terrible game. AoS actually managed to keep the things we didnt like while not actually fixing anything.I could forgive all its glaring flaws if the game were fun, sadly it is not.

^Shame, but why are people jumping to Kings of War instead of sticking to 8th? Just treat WHFB 8th like Bloodbowl and Mordheim.

^Why would you do that, when SBG game mechanics has always been positively received and is already mostly balanced? You wish to challenge Warhammer orcs with your Warriors of Minas Tirith???

If I was going to support WHFB I would probably go back as far as third addition with the Oldhammer group. The argument has been made that was the last time all of the Armies were out at once.I have issues with random magic items. At least you can pick your army based on what makes sense rather than what GW decides to include or exclude.

I have the Kings of War rules on the table. I have not spent much time with them. We have been playing Lion Rampart. It is fast and works well with group play. I saw Age of Sigmar played yesterday. I have a poor impression.I am not going to support it.

12 players with 800 miniatures and played in 4 hours to conclusion. This would be impossible with any version of Argue Hammer.

Gonna buy me an ophidian gate and put some Dwarves in front of it. I'll probably cut the snake pillars off though. Reaper makes some cool pulp minis that might look neat on a decorative base with those pillars.

@Oldman Willow, yeah people are raving about Kings of War 2, I never moved on from 7th but I might give KoW2 a try. Or you can tell me how it plays!

It looks like fun. I am going to cut out some bases for a friend who is very interested. I will let you know when I play.
