More progress on Uruks. Almost done. Water effect was just applied before these pictures were taken. Some of them have "S" rune painted in their armor as in book. Too bad there were never metal version made of these as i love siege troops design. Details tend to be bit soft and as other plastic minis in this range scale is different from metal ones. Still, very nice miniatures (+ good value and still available!)

They are nice sculpts and you have made the best of them. Great placement and bases make them look like a scene from The Two Towers.

Thank you all :-D

After Uruk siege troops i wanted to paint something classic lotr metal miniatures and they sure don't come any more classic than very fist Numenor metal's! Very very nice models, joy to paint! This prototype is still missing few details here and there, some finishing touches, bow and base of course. I might try to add my first bowstring here as well.

I have 6 spearmen, 12 + archers, Isildur and Elendil so i can actually make nice warband out of them when the time comes!

There is also plastic swordsmen from first starter set, but i might get few spearmen more and convert some metal swordsmen. Or keep sword only for captain, im not sure.

After i finish him i might open up some Black Numenors for this months hobby challenge..!

So it has been super long since last update! I have been very busy with my film projects past six months now, but i have done some painting here and there! Started out one small 40k project and did some commission work, but i managed to expand my beloved Middle-earth little bit as well. I present you Golden King and he's bodyguards!

The Golden King and Co. look great as do the Siege Uruks which have a nice dirty feel to them.

I particularly like your numenorean. Especially the black cloak. Black is something that can be hard to grasp and thus paint, but you have seen to highlight the black just enough to make it look realistic. Nice job.

Thank you :)

I haven't been able to browse One-ring for many long months and after it came online it took some time that i was actually able to sing in again! Now that it is all working i can continue to update my wip! Recently all my very limited painting time has been reserved for commission works only, but im going to get back to Middle-earth asap! Meanwhile you can check out my latest personal project, Praetorian Guard command group! (Mostly in Finnish)

Thank you both!

Color scheme for Legolas was inspired by Magali Villeneuve's artwork for Lord Of The Rings LCG.

Next i might continue with some more elves or make spiders and Dol Guldur orcs OR more Uruks! I have huge backlog so i just need to choose...

Beautiful painting and wonderful bases on those mirkwoods! Feel the atmosphere of woodland marshes.

Great painting are very nice bases! Do you pin the models to the base or just glue them? I really like the lower profile look it provides and I'm considering switching before I get started.

Yeah, i prefer lower profile myself too, hence bit more effort to make it happen.
I depends, for these plastic Wood Elves i just glued them, but especially on metal figures i usually find pinning necessary. It takes some time to do it when you have only small feet etc to drill hole into... And lower profile base does not make ideal pinning material either. Haven't got many cavalry models on lower bases yet, metal ones might turn out to be challenging! I might add some scenery element on most difficult ones to ease pinning.

I was sick for a week so i took few sculpting projects, for 40k and lotr. Some random dwarf to start with, haven't done too much sculpting in long time. He is not finished yet, i will give him some more armor on shoulders at least. There is also couple Mirkwood spiders in works.

Image

Before christmas i also had my first actual game of Lord of the rings in ages! Nazgul in picture is painted by my girlfriend and this was actually her first miniature game ever. Her Tainted one was victorious and my Arnor force was scattered. I think she actually killed more her own orcs than i did!

Image

I have been painting mostly world war 2 miniatures recently, but i might have more Middle-earth things to share soon as im planning to paint one particular brown wizard!
