Getting plastered!

Seriously, making a huge mess out of plaster in an attempt to cast up some bricks to build a fortified farmyard. Yesterday I based my trees on those awesome 4ground scenic bases I got in the post a while back. They look so good I spent the evening pouting the dollar store wouldn't have more pines for another 6 months. Last weekend I did my first conversion: some Moria regulars lost their lower limbs to a set of critically wounded drummers I got for pennies on the dollar from the internet. Really quite pleased with them, especially after the primer. Thursday I'm off to the hardware store for another 20 lbs of plaster!

I planned a game for Friday night to test my NOVA list. This is turn will cause me to speed paint my two cave trolls sitting at home (they're nearly done thankfully)

Update: Played the aforementioned game, won by 1 vp in domination vs. Mirkwood Elves. Got lucky as I had wargs run and sit on two far flung objectives. His Thranduil straight up did work on me however, killing both cave trolls, durburz, my goblin drum, and a handful of grunts, effectively killing twice his worth. It was also the most fun I've had playing tabletop in almost a decade.

So,today I supported my hobbit hobby by taking the plunge & finally ordering a large(€350) order from Gw(osgiliath veterans,Minas tirith citadel guard spear & bow, command boxes for isengard, mordor,Rohan & Minas tirith)a second escape from goblin town for Bilbo & thorin weapon options, more goblins & mostly for the scenery, some Uruk-hai & some riders of Rohan! That's me for a while I think, but probably not after seeing what's coming out from Warhammer fest,oh my poor wallet!

Today I found a guy online that wanted to sell all of his unpainted lotr stuff all in one go. I bought all of it and I'm now planning to resell/trade some of the plastics since it's quite much.
I just had to buy it since it seemed like such a good deal.

I bought it for €100,- in total.

This is what it is:
- Balin's Tomb (diorama)
- Frodo, Sam, Pippin, Merry, Gandalf, Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli, Boromir (metal)
- Moria Goblins (x48 assembled)
- Moria Goblin's leader (x1)
- Warriors of the Last Alliance (x60 assembled)
- Gandalf the White (x1)
- The Fighting Uruk-Hai (x50 assembled)
- The Fighting Uruk-Hai (x20 boxed)
- Unknown Uruk-Hai metal characters (x3)
- Warriors of Rohan (x48 assembled)
- Riders of Rohan (x6 on sprue)
- Mordor Orcs (x24 assembled)
- Mordor Orcs (x24 boxed)
- Warriors of Minas Tirith (x36 assembled)
- Warriors of Minas Tirith (x12 sprue)
- Warriors of Harrad (x24 boxed)
- Knights of Minas Tirith (x6 boxed)
- Army of the Dead (x10 boxed)

I returned to the game after a very long absence!

I just bought the Desolation of Smaug Source book from Wayland games. I'm planning to pick the Mirkwood Elves box set, Tauriel and the 2 Mirkwood Ranger Captains. That'll give me a nice little Warband to get started with again.

It's great to be back. I've hundreds of SBG miniatures. I want to start collecting again and get some games in. I'm hoping with GW's change on things in recent times, the game can see a return with new and old players again. :)

Only two months til all the Hobbit Models get their updated profiles released!

I supported my Hobbit Hobby by inspiring my younger siblings to embark on their SBG journey. I have been reading them the whole series and we just got to Gandalf the White's appearance and I am excited to reenact scenes with some new models I picked up!

I bought Tauriel, the Mirkwood Captains blister & a Mirkwood Ranger box from GW yesterday evening. I'm looking forward to them arriving so I can get to assembling and painting them up.

Custom made glass showcase equipped with adjustable LED lights.
After my last painted model, I've realized that I need to make some investment in showcase for figures, as I had no free shelf or space at home to put anything new.

I hope this one will give me a really hard kick and I fill it in with completed works very soon.

Mars, I like the display case. The models look good too. You should do a projects page and show us more pictures.

Not sure whether it is threadomancy or not, but oh well.

I just bought a massive load of miniatures and books, some new, some old.

There and Back Again
The Hobbit an Unexpected Journey Rulebook
Defenders of Rohan
Erkenbrand foot and mounted - metal
Theoden Pelennor version (both the helmeted version with armoured horse and the non helmeted version) - both metal
Eomer Marshall of the Riddermark (plan to stick him on one of Theoden's horses) - metal
Legolas Greenleaf Prince of Mirkwood
Escape from Goblin Town
Gandalf the Grey (new finecast version - love the pose)
Old metal Balin
Moria Goblin Drummers
Moria Gobin Shaman - metal
Gandalf the White Pelennor fields mounted (sword up) - metal
Aragorn Helms Deep
12 Hunter Orcs on Wild Wargs
12 Hunter Orcs
12 Wild Wargs
Bolg Foot and Mounted
Azog Foot and Mounted
The Denizens of Moria (chuffed about this one, as I always wanted that pose of the Balrog)
Also a metric tonne of metal uruk hai berserkers, crossbowmen, scouts, warg riders, and assorted characters + two metal isengard trolls.
And finally, all of the miniatures needed to do the Scouring of the Shire + the book.

I have already painted a lot of them, and I plan to finish the rest by the end of the year.

With all of the miniatures I already had, I think I have enough to do the entire fellowship campaign, most of TTT, and probably also most of ROTK as well. I hope to get my brother to play a bit when I return from uni, as he has always seemed to enjoy the models and the game, but has never had the confidence to actually paint a model.

Showing off all my lovely models and terrain to my cousins who are visiting from Middle Earth...I mean New Zealand. Yeah, New Zealand.

Still working on masses of plaster Gondor buildings. Built a staircase that weighs more than my cat. Trying to finish a door-sized city for next summer to reboot the line when Pelennor Fields comes out. I'd love to host a demo day in the new shop up in Red Deer, which though 3 hrs away, is still my F(L?)GS.

I did some miniatures painting for the last week or so. I really missed this hobby. I can't believe it's been a year since I touched my collection until a week ago.

Picking up the new Middle Earth SBG rulebooks and starting a Rivendell army!

Some friends of mine at my local club decided to start Battle Companies for a lark, considering what a beautifully small entry cost the game is in both money (basic troops only) and time (3-8 minis max to get started). I hopped on the bandwagon and - seeing as the new edition dropped - bought the new rulebooks. One thing led to another and before I knew it my 5 man Battle Company has expanded into an 800pts army project (with a similarly sized Barad-Dúr or Angmar project to follow).

Image

I'm now sitting at 18 painted Warriors plus Elrond, with the Twins in progress and a few more bits and pieces on the backlog to boot. I haven't played the ME SBG system since the Two Towers edition was released, so I'm looking forward to getting to grips with it again!

Those knights are beautiful; their cloaks almost seem to glow! Along with their armour, they are stunning. I'd love to see your take on the Rivendell knights and some evil forces.
