Hi guys :)

Well, I have been following this forum for a long time, but never really decided to post anything serious, or to show any of my work. I think I have been painting LOTR miniatures now for over 12 years if I remember correctly (not really sure :) ). Well since there is not any bigger things going on considering this hobby in my country (coming from Slovenia), I felt like a lone wolf in this hobby :) Nevertheles, I kept my enthusiam high since I started. So, finally I decided to create my WIP as well, to show you some of my work.. And I will be glad to receive any comments from you guys :)

So, first of all, I am showing 4 Riders of Rohan, which are currently getting their paint job :) I don't really now, how did they ended with me, because I never really collected Rohan, though they seem quiet nice models, and I think, they are getting quiet nice. When they are finished, I will post better pictures, but for now, things look like that:

What do you think?

Hey buddy, your images aren't working (at least on my screen) so it's hard to say how they look! Unless you happened to paint your riders of Rohan exactly like the background of the one ring website, in which case they are spot on and you have achieved a seem less result

Glad to see your work in his forum! Your image showed the first time I looked, but now seems to be broken. Your horses looked well done but couldn't tell on the riders as they blended in with your painting mat.

The work looks really solid, I'm really impressed with it. That said, it's hard to really see the riders as the angle and lighting is not really that great. Could we get a shot in daylight or from a different angle?

Much better, thank you!

You have some serious skills with a brush. The faces and eyes are fantastic. I like the style of art you've done for the horses, and the high contrast on a lot of your stuff makes sure it will be seen even from a distance. While I personally prefer a teddy brown on my Rohan for accents (as compared to your bright red), you have painted your red very nicely.

I really like the silver on your horse's heads, but I'm not so keen on the silver on the chainmail or the shirt scalemail. Now this isn't a technique critique so much as a choice preference. The scalemail and chainmail are masterfully done, but I feel they are too bright. For me, Rohan is a land of citizen soldiers for the most part. Warfare is not bred into their bones, their weapons and armour are cherished but aged heirlooms. The silver you've got is a Gondorian silver, a polished and well maintained steel. That said, you have overtly stated that they are not done, so maybe they will be weathered later!

To reiterate, excellent painting skills and look forwards go seeing more.

Made some progress in the last days. Actually, just shields remain to be painted. And maybe some final touches :)

Little worse photos this time, but don't have sunlight in the night :D

Your comment regarding armour was really nicely placed. I still think it requiers some detail work..

Allright, so after finishing those Riders I return to a project which I started some weeks ago - creating 4 gaming boards, 60x60cm in size, which would be a little bigger than 2'x2'. I finished the first one few weeks ago, I think the final result is quiet satisfying :)

Image

So, turned my kitchen table in a working place yet again, and the basing is finished :)

Image

The board itself wrapped a little (being just MDF 4mm), but i expexct it to be corrected after painitng :)

Thanks guys for comments. They provide a nice motivation boost 8)

Second 1/4 of gaming board has just been finished. I think they do look pretty nice together.

Two more, and we are ready for new gaming experiences :)

A few hills and you will be ready to reinact the warg riders scene. Everything looks great, thanks for sharing! I always enjoy looking at photos for inspiration. I really like your horse colours. If you could share their paint schemes, that would be awesome.

Well, I will try to give paint scheme, but of course, it's not really 100% accurate. It's also by filling as well :)

Red-brown:
-Rhinox hide
-wash with Agrax Earthshade
-Rhinox hide
-2:1 Rhinox hide:Doombull brown
-1:1 Rhinox hide:Doombull brown
-1:2 Rhinox hide:Doombull brown
-Doombull brown

Dark grey-brown
-Rhinox hide
-wash with Agrax Eartshade
-3:1 Rhinox hide:Dawnstone
-2:1 Rhinox hide: Dawnstone
-highlight Dawnstone

Dark brown
-Rhinox hide
-wash with Agrax Eartshade
-Rhinox hide
-2:1 Rhinox hide:Steel legion drab
-1:1 Rhinox hide:Steel legion drab
-highlight Steel legion drab

Orange-brown
-Mournfang brown
-wash with Reikland fleshshade
-2:1 Mournfang brown:Skrag brown
-1:1 Mournfang brown:Skrag brown
-1:2 Mournfang brown:Skrag brown
-highlight Skrag brown

Obviously, you can see a pattern in here :) Of course, it was a lot of experimenting along the way. Hope it helps you :)

@ metalface13 thank you for comment :)

Next on my painting table is Wild warg chieftain. Really looking forward to paint this one. I'm thinking of him that it might be a distant relative of Azog's great white warg... Will probably try to do something similar, i suppose white scheme will look great :)

Progressing quiet nice I think. The light is a bit too yelowish. Warg is in reality white :) Will do better photos once it is finished of course.

Nice work! I like the riders of Rohan a lot, and the board looks great. I'm thinking of building a similar style board soon, assuming I can find a place to store it haha.
