Hey folks, new member here... The Grumpy Gnome. I realize I am somewhat late to the party so I may well be asking questions that have been repeatedly asked and answered long ago. Apologies in advance for that. I will try to avoid seeking to reinvent the wheel.

My wife and I have a project to bring Middle Earth to life in miniature... in our hobby room. I have a blog to document the project. Lots of conversiins and proxy models to reflect our own vision, bring non-movie things that are in the books or other mediums as well as our own personal additions. All on a limited budget!

We have been working on this for about a year, the blog not quite as long. My painting and photography skills have improved a bit since I started so please be patient with my earlier blog entries.

As always I consider feedback a gift. Constructive criticism, advice and suggestions are very welcome. Some of my favorite pieces are improvements where someone did not agree with my original design and recommended an improvement.

Welcome, really enjoyed reading through your blog, some nice posts in there. I really liked your orc conversions, nice job on the additions to the shields and what you added to belts, really makes standard poses individual. The addition of little items you have added to figures and to your terrain pieces really make them stand out.

If you aren't aware of Victoria Miniatures, go to her website, she has a lot of pieces that you can add to figures. Backpacks, pouches, bedrolls, etc.

Thanks for your kind words and the tip on the bits source!

The blog is in part to serve as a personal journal of our project but it is also an effort to give back to the online community that has inspired, motivated and helped me with the project. I have learned a great deal from other people and hopefully some folks may benefit from reading about my mistakes as well as successes in order to help their own projects.

Thought I would let you know that I am enjoying your blog, would comment there but Wordpress requires too much information of my twitter account to sign in with that.

Your wife is doing an excellent job on the river, what are you using for flowers, vines, etc on your pieces?

Hello! I am glad to hear you are enjoying the blog, hearing things like that always gives me a boost in motivation.

Most of what we use are things I won in auctions on eBay, thingsthat arrived in unmarked bags so I do not know the manufacturer. Some things I know are by Army Painter. Some by Noch. The model train hobby in Germany is very popular.

It is frustrating how difficult WordPress can be with comments. Sometimes I am unable to leave replies even on my own blog!
