To me, all Rangers should have that 'weathered dirty' appearance, and you have certainly pulled that off Mac !

Seeing the end result was almost a satisfying reward for the pain staking proofreading required ! :P

I've already painted this model....
now after reading your superb article I would like to start him all over again! :-)

good reference pics but even better are all the pics of the many steps of your model (so they can act as reference for the future :-)

and everything is so well described!

I will certainly use you way/tips on doing the golden parts on my next mini. e.g. I've never thought of using dwarf bronze as undercoat for gold this colour therefore.

I repeat what I dropped at the gallery: I really like this distinctive and careful done range of warm brown colours. it suits the rangers so well!

Nice stuff, althogh i like the guide and the painting, i don't like the color scheme. Too much brown too few Green and Gray elements.

Lovely mini Mac (now why does that remind me of Austin Powers?) Very faithful to the movie version. I think the face is superb - great eyes and I like the tip about Damrod looking to his left.

The article is a great step by step guide, superbly illustrated. I will be consulting it when time comes for some rangers to join the horde!

10/10!

Great article! I love the colors, using lots of brown without it becomingdull.

Excellent article Mac, the finished result is very impressive. I have not done any Lotr for far too long now and I must remedy that. Thank you for re-inspiring me.

Outstanding article, Mac, for an equally outstanding model.

That really is superb painting! I love the effect, and to keep those brown areas separate without making them look disjointed is pure genius. Stunning!

An excellent article Miguel, i have seen your painting come on over the years since you started the hobby, and this is truly brilliant. As Brian has said, you have pulled off that 'weathered effect' very well. Great article, well done :D

Fantastic article, Miguel. As I wrote in the comment in your gallery, the shades of brown on this mini are outstanding.
The article itself is very well written, with great pictures taken at each step, which makes following the process of painting very pleasurable.
I ennoyed reading it a lot and will definitely try some of the methods you described.
Thanks for submitting it, I hope to see some more from you in the future!

Cheers!

A lovely, original painting guide for damrod. My favourite part is definately the face and eyes - you have got them perfect and I think you have captured the grit and hardness of Faramir's rangers perfectly.

Thanks for all your comments so far, guys. You're too kind.

It was a pleasure to paint this particular model (really nice deteils) so I guess I'll have to paint a few more rangers in the future and, of course, Faramir and Madril too... and who knows, Mablung (if a model will ever be released ).

Maybe there's a couple of articles more in the future... ;)

Again, thanks for all the feedback, both here and in my gallery. :D
